PTA News

17th March 2008

The TBS Spring Fair will be held between 10am and 1pm on Saturday 29th March. It is a family occasion with lots of things to buy and games to play. Each class and their teacher run an activity which the children enjoy getting involved with and it also gives them a chance to raise money for their community projects. In our 40th Anniversary year we hope you can help us make the Spring Fair a huge success.

The PTA will be running a café selling hot drinks, sweet cakes and biscuits. Savoury food will be provided by La Soon (barbeque) and Bawarchi (savoury wraps). The PTA will also run a used book sale and a summer drinks table selling Pimms and lemonade and a non-alcoholic summer cocktail. And for children under five, we hope to have a paddling pool for which parental supervision will be required.

HOW YOU CAN HELP
• We will need many helpers on the day to run the PTA tables.
• We also need donations of second hand books, cakes and biscuits.
• You may wish to take a table to sell second hand items (TBS parent tables Nrs 300) or your child may wish to have their own table running a game or selling children’s items (TBS children’s tables Nrs 150). Please see Mandy Gaskin (Year 5 teacher) to register for these tables.
• You may also know of a small business or handicraft stall who you could invite to take a table (business or charity tables Nrs 500). If so please ask them to contact Sarah Greenslade on 5525157 or
sarah.greenslade@btinternet.com

We need to collate all your offers of help so please would you fill in the reply slip on the following page and return it to your child’s class teacher or to the reception as soon as possible. Please feel free to volunteer yourself or your family for more than one task! You can check the Spring Fair notice board at the gate for confirmation of all our volunteers and how they are going to help.

Thank You.

40th Anniversary Street Party

As part of our 40th Anniversary celebrations we are pleased to announce that TBS will be holding its second ever Street Party on Saturday 23rd February from 12 noon to 3 pm. For those of you who do not remember the Queen’s Silver Jubilee Street Parties in the UK, the idea is that we will set up a very long, long table in the school yard, big enough to accommodate all TBS students and their families, we thought the actual street might be a bit busy!!! Participating families will bring their own lunch and join their friends to enjoy one very large picnic. We are planning bunting, balloons, mulled wine and ice cream but we would welcome any more ideas as to how we could make this an extra special Anniversary celebration.

PTA Items for purchase

Thank you to Hilary Oatley for all her efforts on the new school fleeces. The PTA is establishing a new Clothing Committee who will be responsible for designing/ordering more items for sale. The PTA would really appreciate volunteers to assist with this project, especially any parents/students with any related experience.

TBS Youth Club

In order for the school to operate this after school activity, they need parent volunteers to assist with supervising the students. Each week the school struggles to find volunteers and so are planning on establishing a volunteer chain, more details to follow.  As you are perhaps aware they are also looking for a Parent Coordinator to liaise with the school and so please could any interested parents contact Ms Gogarty or Mr Wade.

Upcoming Events

Another TBS/PTA event to look forward to this term is the Annual Spring Fair, which is scheduled for Saturday 29th March. Please note the new date, which is different than previously advertised.

New members required

The PTA welcomes all new members, it is a fun way to meet other parents and learn more about the school.

Next PTA meeting

The next meeting is on Wednesday 13th February at 3.30 pm in year 5’s classroom and all parents are very welcome to attend.
