Foundation Space-Theme Bandh Pack

Dear Parents,

Please use the space bandh pack with your child at home. Below are some ideas for how to use the information given in the PDF packs.

  • Create a moon café at home. Set out some tables and chairs with your child and role play being a waiter, chef and customer. Make the space food using the recipes provided in the PDF and create a menu with your child using sounds to write words independently. You could set up a market stall and create labels for the biscuits and images to go with them. Use weighing and estimation skills in cooking. Practice sharing out your different biscuits with your new friends. Are there any left over? Have you made an even number or odd number of biscuits? How many do you have left when someone eats one?
  • Make some masks and invite some aliens to come and join (could be your child’s toys).
  • Write a letter inviting an astronaut to come to dinner and pack a dinner for him to take on the rocket.
  • You could design posters to be put up around the house inviting people to come to the café.
  •  Paint some large boxes to make a rocket.
  • Count sequins and stars.
  • Make a moon dance, pretending to feel the effects of no gravity.
  • Write some questions that you would like to ask an alien about their planet.
  • Make a moon from egg boxes and paint the craters grey.
  • Paint the nine different planets using hot and cold colours according to the planet descriptions. Can you put the planets in the right order from the sun? Use the Mnemonic to help you remember. Some additional space websites:
