Namaste and welcome to Year One!
Miss Salmons, Mr. Cannon, Miss Wiggers
are the Year 1 teachers.
Meet our Teaching Assistants:
Mrs Moktan, Mrs. Jha and Mrs. Mukhia and us –
The Year One class of 2013 -14.
Mr O'Sullivan meets with our class once a week to teach P.E. and Mr Cannon meets us twice a week for a Music lesson and a singing assembly.
We really to look forward to seeing them!
This term we are enjoying listening to, retelling, acting out and making our own versions of Traditional Tales like Goldilocks and the Three Bears, Little Red Riding Hood, the Three Billy Goats Gruff and the Three Little Pigs. With the use of ICT we are rewriting a traditional tale.
We are making traditional tale characters in Art and telling stories in the style of Maithili Art.
In Science, we are carrying out lots of investigations about light and dark, showing our understanding of which light sources are manmade and which are natural. We have sorted objects into reflectors and non-reflectors.
There was great fun to be had at the recent International Day where we dressed in our countries traditional dress, tasted food from various countries, watched dances and different performances from our school friends and became the teacher in class giving our friends a History, Geography and fact lesson about the country that we are from.
We look forward to making some Christmas items in Design and Technology that we are able to sell at our Christmas Fair.
Our highlight this term will be to perform the Christmas Nativity Play to friends, other schools and our parents. Come and watch... ‘Prickly Hay’ on 4th and 5th of December at 1pm.
Here are a few things that we have been doing so far...
