                 Namaste, welcome to Year 3


There are 24 children in our class, 8 boys and 16 girls. We come from eight different countries which are: England, Nepal, India, Germany, Mongolia, America, Tibet and Ghana.

LITERACY
We start the term by looking at Information Books based on our topic of Africa. We then move onto Authors and Letters and read the "Anansi" stories which have an African theme. We finish the term by looking at Language Play.

MATHS
We are focussing on Handling Data, Calculating, measuring and understanding shape and Securing number facts. Learning number bonds and multiplication facts will be a constant thread throughout the term.

SCIENCE
We will be looking at Light and Shadows and investigate which materials are best for creating a shadow and how to change the size of that shadow We then move onto Helping Plants Grow and determine the conditions needed for growth, culminating in growing some sunflower seeds.

ICT
We are looking at sending and receiving emails and how to be cyber safe.

ART
We will be painting African landscapes.

DT
We will be making colourful African face masks.

GEOGRAPHY
We will be looking at the continent of Africa, identifying the physical features, countries and climatic zones. We then focus on Kenya and Ghana as contrasting localities.

PSHE
We are looking at Bullying.

ASSESSMENTS
The week beginning April 22nd is Assessment Week. Reports will be given out to parents in the week beginning June 17th.
