“Without Music, life would be a mistake.” (Nietzsche)

At TBS we aim to provide quality musical experiences for all children from Foundation to Sixth Form. Singing is delivered on a regular basis to all children with additional choirs for Key Stage 2 and Secondary students who want to extend their vocal experience. In the classroom, the curriculum is delivered through full participation in performing activities on a range of instruments - guitar, keyboard, drum kit, ocarina, tuned and un-tuned percussion, recorder, bass guitar among others - through both solo practise and group performing. Outside the classroom, there are opportunities for musicians to further develop skills through instrumental lessons, samba bands and “Rock School - Battle of the Bands” with a wide range of performing opportunities.

This is delivered by an enthusiastic and dedicated team of musicians - Jonathon Cannon (a primary specialist with extensive choral and orchestral experience); Luba Shrestha (piano teacher); Kiran Shahi (drum teacher and music department technician as well as being drummer in four of the best bands in Nepal!); Sunny Tuladhar (guitarist extraordinaire, music department technician as well as a lead guitarist in Jindabaad and an accomplished bespoke guitar manufacturer); Iain Gordon (Director of Music).

“Music is the voice that tells us that the human race is greater than it knows.” (Napoleon Bonaparte)
