The International Award is the name under which The Duke of Edinburgh Award is provided in over 30 countries. It’s concept is pic1

“one of individual challenge. It presents to young people a

balanced, non-competitive programme of voluntary activities which

encourages personal discovery and growth, self-reliance,

perseverance, responsibility to themselves and service to their

community.”

pic2The International Award at TBS offers pupils in the year 10 and above the opportunity to participate and encourages and celebrates the contributions of young people in developing their life skills and involvement in the wider community.

There are three levels of Award (Bronze, Silver & Gold) each requiring greater time commitment and perseverance. The youngest age to start is 14 (for Bronze Award) and young people have until 25 to complete any of the Award levels.

There are 4 sections at each level; Service, Physical Recreation, Skill and Adventurous Journey. Gold also has a residential section.

Participants are encouraged to develop their own abilities through participation and commitment and to make a difference to their own and others lives.pic3
