Year 3 Patan Visit and Egyptian Day Print E-mail

Year 3 have been busy studying ancient history at the moment. They have recently visited Patan Museum and held an Egyptian themed day. Three students have written excellent reports on the day and you can see them below. The reports were part of a writing competition held to see who could produce the best articles to go on the schools website.

Patan Museum

By Jana and Eugenie, 3E

The square was full of shiny and glittering temples. On the way we had lunch at Patan Durbar Square. When we entered the museum we saw a big chair and it was where the King used to sit. We saw lots of Buddhas with different poses. They were made out of metal craft. We saw Gods and Goddesses with 4 hands and arms. There were lots of colourful paintings of God life. There were lots of sculptures coloured in bronze.

Exciting Egypt Day

By Gauri Pasbola 3Z
I was feeling excited, nervous and a bit shy dressed up as Cleopatra for Egypt day. I guess my friends felt the same. I was happy to see my teachers dressed up like Egyptians too.
The day began with making bread with Mrs Pangini. It was followed by making clay Canopic jars with Mrs Shrestha. Miss Esplin told us about how the Egyptians crossed the river Nile with heavy stone statues. We also did experiment with to see what floats and what sinks. We made boats that could float on water. Mr Zammit told us about the techniques used by Egyptians to carry heavy stones to build pyramids. We dragged bricks the same way the Egyptians did. It was easy and fun. We were divided into 4 groups A, B, C and D. I was in group C.
We had our class photo clicked. It was an awesome day and I wish there were no holidays in school.
