Welcome to the 6M Class Page!
After the busyness of Term 2, Term 3 is an opportunity to settle back into our routine of learning and more learning. The children are also to be heavily involved in the Key Stage Two production that will take place during Week 11. The children have already started planning for our stall at the Eco Fair during Week 5, so please come along and support our class for that.
Mrs Parks continues to do a fantastic job as 6M Parent Rep, so please feel free to approach her as well as myself and any of the Year 6 team.
Homework is given out on a Thursday and is due back in school by the following Tuesday. Towards the end of term, as we gear up for end-of-key-stage-tests in Term 4, the homework is likely to increase, so please bear with us during what will be a busy time for children and teachers.
Due to the relatively long term, we will be continuing some topics in Term 3. The children will still be working on our Dala Lama topic in the first few weeks of term, and completing their Magical Mandalas with Mr Simpson in Art before moving on to the topic of Climate Change. This links with our D.T. work on draft excluders and our participation in the eco-fair. Our PSHE topic is Good To Be Me, which deals with the issues of self-esteem, something very prevalent to children about to enter adolescence and take significant exams. In Music children will be focussing on performance songs, and our Science topics will be Forces, Life Cycles and Electrical Circuits.
Any extra work you can do with your child at home will obviously make a big difference. The BBC website has extremely useful and fun activities and will give you an idea of the sort of things your child is learning in the core subjects. The address is: www.bbc.co.uk/schools/ks2bitesize
The children in 6M make teaching lots of fun and we're all excited to get stuck into the curriculum!

Kind regards
Mr. Greenwood
