Thank you to those parents who managed to join us for the Primary Topic Talks. This Wednesday we have Year 7 Parent Teacher consultations from 3.45 to 5.30pm. Your son or daughter should be sharing with you an appointment sheet so that you can arrange a time to meet staff you wish to consult.
We have a small number of cases of Chicken Pox in the Primary Section. The symptoms are large red blister like spots which appear in small numbers then increase and become itchy. The infectious period lasts from about three days before the rash appears until all the blisters have formed scabs. The incubation period between being infected with chickenpox until the disease breaks out and symptoms appear is 10 to 20 days. Children should remain home until all spots have dried and scabbed.
An ex parent is looking for a small house or flat within easy walking distance. Should you know of such a place please could you contact me.
Parents have again been complaining about two issues:
• cars driving too fast on the way to school
• drivers again not following the traffic rules by approaching the school from the wrong direction and stopping outside the gate.
May we please urge you to consider the safety of ALL our children at ALL times. If families continue to break these traffic rules then we will have not alternative but to levy a “fine” of 500Nrs for each traffic offence to offending families. I urge you to follow the traffic rules.
On the note of safety may we remind you that Epic Mountain Bike Adventure (Rupesh Man Shrestha) will run a Cycling Proficiency course which is giving children safety awareness on the road. It runs on Fridays from 2.30-3.30pm, at the school, for interested children in KS2, age 8 upwards. The charge for the 4 x 1hr course will be just 500 Nrs for the four sessions. Please register your child’s name at reception if they are interested. The children will need to bring their own bikes and helmets to participate in the course. Starting date to follow.
Please may we remind you that children are not allowed to use the apparatus, the Flying Fox or play on the Mound Area by the pond before school, and only after school if they are supervised by their parents or responsible staff. Teachers and Teaching Assistants are not on playground duty after school, and there is minimal supervision before school in the mornings. Please ensure that any staff who collect and supervise your children are aware of their responsibilities. At all times we want to ensure that our children are safe and are being supervised while on the school premises. Thank you for your co-operation.
As you may know we at TBS have a very good relationship with the Welfare Society for Blind and Disabled here in Kathmandu who have a wonderful musical and cultural group that sometimes comes into school to play for us and give inspiration. The association is currently busy fundraising in order to purchase computer equipment that can be used by blind and partially sighted people and they are organizing a fund raising concert at the Russian Cultural Centre at Kamal Pokhari. This concert takes place on Saturday 24th May between 1-3pm. The programme will be very varied, including traditional Nepali folk music, fusion music and dance items performed by members of the association and star guests. Tickets are priced at Rs500 and Rs1000 and all proceeds will go to this worthwhile charity project. It promises to be a great afternoon and we do hope that many of us will be able to attend. Tickets are on sale at the Primary reception.
Miss Ishwari Rajak has left TBS and is hoping for new adventures. I am sure you will join with me in wishing her well for the future.
We look forward to welcoming you to our Family Assembly on Friday at 2 pm led by Miss Nisimo and the Foundation class.
