We are delighted to share that the British School Overseas (BSO) inspection report has now been published, and it is an extremely positive and affirming reflection of life at The British School Kathmandu. The inspection confirms that the school meets all BSO standards and has many outstanding features, recognising the high quality of education, care, and leadership across the school.
Inspectors noted that our students thrive in a culture of care, challenge and creativity, supported by a broad and inclusive curriculum that blends the very best of British educational practice with international and local relevance. Teaching was found to be consistently good, and often outstanding, enabling students to make strong and sustained progress from their varied starting points. Academic outcomes are excellent, and students’ personal development is exemplary.
The report highlights the exemplary behaviour of students, describing relationships across the community as respectful, kind and supportive. Safeguarding and welfare arrangements were judged to exceed local expectations, reflecting the school’s deep commitment to student wellbeing. Leadership and management were recognised as highly effective and reflective, with governance providing strong strategic direction and accountability.
Importantly, inspectors also recognised the strength of our parent community, noting that parents are engaged, supportive and feel informed and valued. The school’s strong sense of belonging and shared purpose was highlighted as a defining feature, creating a vibrant, cohesive community where excellence and kindness are lived values every day.
This report is a wonderful endorsement of the daily work of our staff and students and of the partnership between school and families. It is an achievement that the entire community can take pride in and a powerful reminder of what makes The British School Kathmandu such a special place to learn and grow.
