A morning stroll along the Bagmati River.
So we set off on our Wednesday morning walk along the side of the river.
At first glance you can see exactly why it is referred to as one of the most polluted rivers in the world, everything from the sight to the smell was overwhelmed by the mountains of garbage. As we continued on the dusty road we saw a similar view. Construction had already begun to improve and manage the river, however the sheer amount of glum views of open sewage lines and piles of garbage leaking into the river made it look like a terribly difficult task. We saw sorrowful sights of nurseries and farms next to rubbish and scrap, birds feeding off the polluted river and old abandoned cars resting on the river side. A sorry sight indeed for one of the world's holiest rivers, the Bagmati river.
