Year 9 Options Evening
On Monday 15th January the current Year 9s started the exciting and important process of creating a pathway for their futures. This began with the options evening where they were exposed to the reality of study in Key Stage 4 and motivated by the variety of different courses that were on offer. Teachers were available at the subject fair section of the evening for students to obtain information and ask questions about the programmes. Displays and handouts from the various departments highlighted the positives about their subjects and courses. Some current Year 11s were also in attendance to give a first hand experience of how brilliant life is in Years 10 and 11 and to explain how it differs from Key Stage 3
Here at TBS we offer a wide range of subjects to exam level and encourage our students to take 10 IGCSE examinations. IGCSEs are two year courses and final examinations take place at the end of Year 11. They are internationally recognised and give students a fantastic foundation for further study (A levels / University degrees). Year 9s now have a transition day to look forward to, one on one meetings with members of the leadership team and discussions in mentor times to help them make choices that will make them happy, productive and committed learners. The final option choices will be submitted on the 19th February so the students have a month to research and plan.
