Year 1 and Year 2 had a wonderful trip to the Botanical Gardens yesterday. As Enquiring Owls they worked their way through a selection of activities enjoying the serene gardens.

Our active learners put their skills to work drilling holes and making beautiful wooden pendants, weaving on sticks, observational paintings of the flowers and using their adaptable skills at getting through an obstacle course. 

When we arrived back at school, we were all exhausted after our exciting day out, so we had some quiet time in our classrooms reflecting on the activities we had done and having a snack. After that Year 1 went to set up their beds and make dens in the library & Year 2 set up their sleeping bags in the tents in the hall. We all had a delicious dinner followed by making smores over the campfire. We got ready for bed, but before we went to sleep, we had hot chocolate & popcorn whilst watching a movie. Everyone was so excited to camp out with their friends, and there was lots of giggling, but it wasn’t long before it quietened down and (most people) were asleep. The teachers were so impressed with all the Year 1 & 2 children as they were such Respectful Bees and were really sensible and helped their friends. They also impressed us by being Responsible Dolphins and tidied up all their own belongings before having breakfast. After breakfast they all made some thank you cards for the dais and didis and the caterers and teachers who had supported them and made Camp TBS such a success, but the biggest thanks must go to the Year 1 & 2 children who were absolute superstars!

In Art Club the children have been creating art linked to last term’s book, Floodland which culminated in them creating clay sculptures of the book and key images from it. The children learnt how to create certain shapes, develop the effect of moving pages and slip and score to attach clay together.

Year 12 have had a busy term with coursework deadlines fast approaching. 

In Drama, the AS students recently performed their devised exam piece called ‘DigiLife’. Students had to write, act, direct, design and produce their own piece of theatre from scratch. The students put a huge amount of time into putting the piece together, and the final production was an impressive, professional piece of theatre.

In Art, students have been working on their coursework. Again, students have been putting a huge amount of time and effort into their work, and we are incredibly proud of what they have produced. Please see some of their work below. 

This term we have started KS3 mentoring and reading support. Our Year 12 and 13 students are volunteering their time to meet with KS3 students to read with them, or discuss their week and offer additional support as a person who has recently been through school. The Year 12s and 13’s are showing great patience and commitment to provide the KS3 students with a positive role model, and we are really impressed with their engagement.

We have also had our first badminton fixture of the year. Eight students went to Lincoln with Ms Middlebrook where TBS won every match. An impressive achievement after working hard in badminton club throughout the term. We are looking forward to seeing what happens at the next fixture.

Y12 have also been involved in the Boys Basketball team and the Girls Football team competing in the NISSA league. This culminates this Saturday with the NISSA Finals Day. The girls have made huge progress throughout the season and are going into the finals day ranked second, and the boys remain undefeated and are going into the finals in first place. We are looking forward to supporting both teams on Saturday!

During cross-curricular day on February 4, 2023, students in years 6-10 interviewed members of the TBS community about important events in their lives. They compiled these interviews into living history narratives that tell the story of some of the fascinating people who live and work around the school. We will be publishing one of the resulting stories each week. The (first/second/etc) of these can be read here.”

Please go through the lost and found properties placed near the reception by the end of this term. We will be sending all the remaining items to charity after that.
