It has been a fantastic final week of term in secondary too, with our students showing just as much appreciation for a familiar looking Santa as the younger ones. Well done to all of the performers in Tuesday’s Winter Concert and at the British Embassy carols on Wednesday.
We hope that all students have a restful winter break and arrive back for the new term refreshed and ready to learn. While many of our senior students will be working hard on mock exam and A level science module revision, we would encourage you to support them in achieving a healthy balance here. Short revision sessions of around 20 minutes have been shown to be most effective and we know that movement and exercise is great for the memory.
Congratulations Snigdha:
At the 13th NSA cup swimming championship which was held at Satdobato swimming pool on 6-7 December. Snigdha got 2nd position (silver medal) in the 100m backstroke. Well done!
We are always delighted and proud to hear of students’ successes outside school events and encourage parents to share the news with us.

British Embassy Carols Event
By Avigya Chamling- Year 7
On Wednesday, 10 December, the senior choir proudly took part in this year’s Christmas carols at the British Embassy. This followed the wonderful success of the winter concert. They joined voices with the Kathmandu Chorale, an adult ensemble from the international and Nepali community, and members of the TBS staff. Together, they formed a collaborative, heartfelt choir and sang traditional, jolly Christmas carols, filling the embassy grounds with warmth and festive spirit.
The carols sung included Hark! The Herald Angels Sing. The Holly and the Ivy. In the Bleak Midwinter. Once in Royal David’s City. Away in a Manger. Silent Night. God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen. O Little Town of Bethlehem. The First Noel. We Three Kings. O Come, All Ye Faithful and finally Deck the Halls. To add to the merry, traditional vibe, bible verses were read between songs, and a verse was even read by Mr Draper. Saishree from Year 10 quoted, “I loved singing the songs and our singing sounded really nice.”
As the performance came to a close, holiday treats consisting of mulled wine, mince pies, chicken sausage rolls, hot apple juice, gingerbread cookies, and a selection of refreshments were served to all the guests which was a great addition since most attendants were hungry after the singing, leaving them feeling comforted and making them feel the festive spirit inside through food.
The event was not only organised to bring people together, help them meet new people, and strengthen bonds. True winter spirit comes when people unite. As Ms Freeman said, “It was a joyful occasion that brought people together through the joy of songs and the spirit of Christmas!”
We hope the festive spirit and Christmas magic touch you this holiday season too!

On Tuesday, our school hosted our annual awaiting event, the “Behind the Bleachers” assembly where we talked about the sporting events that took place previously such as FOBISIA U15, NISSA Boys Football , NISSA Girls Basketball, and the TBS Swimming team. We learnt about what they achieved and what they overcame in their events. To add, TBS won the award for Best Spirited School in all of the FOBISIA group that they participated in for the first time along with winning the FOBISIA Football, placing top on the table. Furthermore, Ranbir Aargawal, a student from Year 10 who showed excellence performance, was nominated for the Most Valuable Player in FOBISIA. Huge congratulations to him. The NISSA Boys and Girls played excellently throughout the season and are ready for the final match, which is predicted to take place in January. Good luck to those who are participating in the finals. Additionally, the swim team performed fabulously during their visit to Lincoln School and brought along many awards. Overall, TBS demonstrated great teamwork and sportsmanship whilst competing with others for the number one title.
Fond Farewells
On Thursday TBS celebrated our awards and experiences that occurred over the past two terms and how every student has challenged themselves and tried their best to overcome their fears. To add on, more awards were handed out for the UK Bebras challenge and people from various years won those awards.
