Yesterday, our team came together for a wonderful evening at our Clothes Swap and TBS Staff Quiz night. It was a fantastic turnout, filled with great food, drinks, and excellent trivia rounds crafted by our quizmasters. The night was rounded out beautifully by an exciting raffle and a special live performance from our talented staff band. While we are still tallying up the final numbers, all proceeds from the evening are going directly to the Staff Benevolent Fund to support our colleagues. A sincere thank you to our organisers, performers, and everyone who attended for making it such a successful and enjoyable community event.

EYFS Visit to Fire Station

This week the Early Years children enjoyed an exciting visit to Pulchowk Fire Station. They met a firefighter dressed in full uniform and learned about his important role in helping to keep the community safe. The children were fascinated to see some of the specialised equipment and tools used by firefighters and enjoyed learning about how they are used in emergencies. A highlight of the visit was sitting inside the cab of a fire engine and hearing the fire siren sound. It was a memorable experience that we are sure that the children will remember for a long time!

TBS Primary Pride Week

Primary has been filled with colour, kindness and celebration this week as we marked Pride Week at TBS. We began with a lovely assembly, reminding children that every person is unique and that our school is a place where everyone belongs. A special highlight was seeing our Year 4 students bring ‘Red: A Crayon’s Story’ to life, helping us reflect on the importance of being accepted for who we truly are.

Throughout the week, children joined in with a wonderful range of colourful dress-up days, including rainbow hair day, year group colours, dress like your decade, and finishing the week in full rainbow colours. The celebrations continued with rainbow Ghotta, bracelet making, decorating T-shirts, and a colourful bake sale to raise money for a Pride-related charity.

It has been a joyful week of belonging, inclusion and showing our true colours. Thank you to everyone who helped make Pride Week such a bright and meaningful celebration in Primary.

PE and Sports Assembly

Today’s PE and Sport Assembly provided an opportunity to celebrate the achievements, effort, and positive attitudes demonstrated by students across a range of sporting activities.

We were treated to a wonderful presentation by our FOBISIA Captains where they shared some of their favourite moments of the trip. Students highlighted not only for their performances in competitions but also the important values the team displayed during the course of the competition, including teamwork, resilience, respect, and determination. 

The assembly also highlighted students who have shone in their PE lessons consistently over the course of the year. With one student from each class presented with a Head | Heart | Hands certificate of achievement.

A key message of the assembly was that PE & Sport is about more than winning. Through participation, students develop confidence, character, and a sense of community. Congratulations to all students who continue to represent the school with pride and demonstrate our values both on and off the field.

Atendi the Yeti

Congratulations to 2G class for achieving an impressive 99% attendance. Atendi the Yeti will be staying with them for next week as this was the highest overall attendance for the week.

Pride Article: By Aarambha 10A

From 8–12 June 2026, secondary students at TBS took part in a vibrant and engaging Pride Week, celebrating diversity, self-expression, and inclusion throughout the school community. The week was organised with a variety of activities designed to raise awareness, accept others and create a welcoming environment for all students. 

The celebrations began on Monday with a glitter and sparkles dress code. Students enjoyed a bake sale, bracelet-making activities, and the sale of pride-themed pins and stickers. On Tuesday, many students arrived with colourful rainbow hair, while others took part in a lively ghotta game held in the Yeti Cafe. Thanks to the Zonta members in Year 10.

Wednesday focused on school spirit and unity, with students dressing in their year-group colours. An assembly in the hall highlighted the importance of respect and inclusion, while bracelet making and fundraising activities continued throughout the day. 

Thursday brought a creative twist to the day as students dressed like their favourite decade. The day featured a school-wide scavenger hunt organised by student leaders, alongside more opportunities for students to create bracelets and support fundraising efforts. To close the brilliant week on Friday, we have to dress like a rainbow.

Thank you to the whole entire team of Zonta and a special thank you to Ms. Hall and Ms. Idriss who make us feel proud about who we are and help donate to the people in need.

The World Scholars Cup at TBS

The World Scholars Cup is an international academic event that is a competition for middle and high school students. It focuses on collaborative learning and understanding broader topics that are beyond school. TBS organised our own miniature scholars cup on Friday, the 5th of June. This was the 3rd one we have done. We conducted this event primarily so that year 6 students going to secondary next year could have a taste of the World Scholars Cup and perhaps consider doing it next year. It was open for only Years 6, 7, and 8. Here is a brief rundown.

The Scholars challenge; originally, it is a quiz consisting of 120 questions. TBS adapted it to 60 questions ranging across our school subjects and curriculum, and marked by the students in the World Scholars Cup club. 

The debate; the format for debating remained the same, where there were two teams consisting of 2-4 people debating on either the affirmative or the negative sides of a motion, and the students in the World Scholars Cup club acted as the judges for the debates. 

The Scholars Bowl; the event included teams answering questions across school subjects against other teams in a timed manner. Similar to the Scholars challenge. The Collaborative Writing; originally, it is an event where individuals in a team pick different prompts to write about using any appropriate writing style individually, and then there would be time to proofread each other’s work as a team. TBS, however, adapted this to be purely individual, and students did it in their English lessons before the competition. Finally, to end the day, we had the awards ceremony to distribute certificates and medals to people who did well in certain events.

The only event that did not happen was the scholars show –the talent showcase of the scholars cup– due to time constraints. Although we weren’t able to complete the entire roster, the students that took part in the day’s events enjoyed themselves thoroughly.

Year 8 Visit Patan Durbar Square

This Wednesday, the Year 8 went on an English trip to Patan Durbar Square to explore the settings of the book we are currently reading. Radha and the Wrath of the Maeju by Rishi Amatya, is set in Patan Durbar where an Earthquake takes place, destroying most of the temples. We filled in multiple worksheets about the square, drawing and exploring.

It was a 20 minute walk to Patan Durbar where the students were put in groups which the teachers assigned to them. When we finally arrived at Patan Durbar, the sight of the temples was absolutely breathtaking. We all got into groups of 4-5 of our choice and started to fill in our booklets. We explored and drew for about 1 and a half hours before we had a break. For break we were allowed to use our own money and buy snacks for ourselves. 

After Break, we went straight back into exploring and taking photos. In our groups, we each completed our Booklets made by Rishi Amatya, the Author. The students were even able to go inside the Patan Museum and the local students were able to go inside the Krishna Mandir. Patan Museum was filled with different statues and relics dating back a few hundred years. Yet, soon we had to head back to school with our walking group. During the walk back, it started to slightly pour down but we all came prepared with raincoats and umbrellas.

The entire experience was amazing and worth the long walks. 

Everyone learnt more about the culture surrounding Nepal and got to experience the temples first hand. Thank you to all the teachers who came on the trip with us and made it as enjoyable as it was!
