Principal's Message

Dear Students, Parents and Carers,

I am very much looking forward to seeing many of you at the AGM ((Annual General Meeting) at 11am on Saturday. Please come along and bring a dish to share, we will also provide some hot food. It is essential that you RSVP asap (no later than 3:30pm today) by emailing Nancy Khetan (nkhetan@tbs.edu.np). At the event you will have the opportunity to hear back from the committees of the governing body and also to hear the parent governor candidate introductions. The governing body or Board of Governors (BoG) develops the strategic vision for the school, working in partnership with the Principal and promoting continuous improvement in the performance of the school whilst adhering to its ethos.

Although we are in a much better place regarding COVID, it is important to remember to be vigilant. If your child has symptoms that could indicate COVID, please do not send them to school. Instead please monitor them at home and ensure that they have a COVID test. We continue to ask all staff and students to carry out an antigen test at home each Monday before coming to school and log the results using this form.

Monday, June 20th, you can visit a children’s book stall at the Yeti coffee shop from 8:00 till 8:40 am, the perfect opportunity for parents/ carers to have a book look and enjoy a cup of coffee!

Writers/ illustrators and a visual artist from Thang, a Dutch non-profit organisation aiming to develop creative educational projects and promote reading for children in Nepal, will visit our school. They will provide workshops for all Primary students on Monday. They also offer a workshop for Year 1 students from one of our community schools.

Primary Spotlight

In Week 6, the Year 6 students spent three days preparing for their transition to the Secondary school next year. We joined KS3 mentor groups and participated in a range of exciting lessons with our new teachers, including English, Maths, Science, Drama, Music, Information Literacy, ICT, P.E. and Languages. Perhaps the most exciting was the final transition day, when we engaged in teambuilding activities and navigated our way across the entire school as part of a treasure hunt. We would also like to thank the Y7 students who took the time to answer all our questions about transition – it really helped! Overall, we are now feeling much more prepared for next year and we’re looking forward to lots of new experiences.

KS5 Upcoming Events

KS5 Celebration Assembly:

Open to all Year 12 and 13 parents and carers: Thursday June 23rd 8.20 am – 9.30 am (approximately). Please complete this form to confirm your attendance to help with seating arrangements. Please also be sure to complete an antigen test before coming on to campus and log your result here.

Year 13 Graduation:

Open to parents and carers of Year 13 students only: Friday 24th June (evening).

Timings and venue has been sent via an email.

KS5 Residential Trip:

Open to all students in Years 11, 12 and 13: Monday 27th June to Tuesday 28th June.

Having been to the resort over the weekend, it is lovely and it would be good to have as many students attend this trip as possible to help foster team spirit for our new KS5, and a lovely way for our existing Year 13 students to end their time at TBS. Please note, the attendance confirmation form will close this Friday (17th June) so that final numbers can be shared with the resort.

Rainforest Rally Exit Point

Year 3 had a wonderful time recreating their Rainforest Rally exit point as part of their assembly last week. They shared all the things they have been learning about over the last few terms, this included their work on the Sustainable development goals; Gender Equality and Clean Water and Sanitation. They had designed and made gender neutral toys, had a guest speaker from the Mira Rai foundation and invented their own water purification systems.
