Primary Showcases Term 4:
Year 1
On Friday, Year one had a fantastic time inviting their families in to share our Exit Point around the sustainable development goals 2 (Zero Hunger) and 3 (Good Health and Wellbeing). The students designed, advertised and made filling, healthy smoothies and fruit cups to serve at the event to make sure we catered for any allergies. While parents were enjoying their drinks, the children discussed their ideas and research on why people living in different parts of Nepal might suffer from hunger or malnutrition. They also shared their designs for the best smoothie cups and our science testing station for exploring the best material to make a smoothie cup. It was a fantastic event.
Year 2
Year 2 were delighted to showcase our learning on the SDGs to the parents during the Exit Point. Linked to our Literacy book ‘There’s a Rang-Tan in My Bedroom’, we focussed on these goals; Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production and Goal 15: Life on Land linked to Literacy. We read and talked about the book ‘There’s a Rang-Tan in My Bedroom’, watched the video ‘The Great Realisation’ by Tom Foolery and asked questions to the parents, shared the fact file of the extinction species, read a letter written to the President of Nepal on the extinction of the Royal Bengal Tiger in Nepal. We were proud to share the poster we’ve made on reducing food waste and record on our pictogram how they reduce food waste at home to be sustainable.
Year 3
On Friday, Year 3 were excited to welcome their families to their SDG exit point. Throughout the SDG topic, the children focused on the SDGs – Quality Education and Zero Poverty. They looked at how children in Nepal are affected by limited access to education due to income levels in the country. The children made a number of wonderful crafts, including plant pots, painted rocks and bracelets, that they then sold in order to raise money for our community partner school, Mary Ward. The children raised over 14,800 rupees which they will use to buy reading books for the children who attend Mary Ward. Thank you to everyone who came to the sale and contributed to the fantastic total raised.
Year 4
This will be held on Friday 24th May 2024 at 1.30pm
Primary FOBISIA Maths Competition
Year 5 and 6 students had the pleasure of taking part in the FOBISIA Maths competition in Bangkok, Thailand over the weekend, where they competed in several rounds designed to test their mathematical skills and knowledge. They also completed individual maths tests as part of the competition and spent a lot of time solving complex problems and challenges. The children were incredibly resilient, determined and fabulous team players who supported and encouraged each other every step of the way. They also made friends with many other children from various competing schools and got to explore some of the sights of Bangkok as well, including Wat Pho and Wat Arun. It was a wonderful educational experience and the children all did TBS proud!
