KS3
Students in year 7 are coming to the end of their drama study this term and have thoroughly enjoyed being immersed in the world of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time. They have learnt new skills in reading drama texts, understanding how drama works on stage and even writing their own scripts. Some of the students produced their own alternative covers for the script.
Shrishti Kedia, Avideep Bajgain
Year 8 have been studying poetry with a focus on culture and heritage. They have travelled the world through poetry and are finishing this topic by writing some original poems based on their own culture. Some of the poems are fascinating and show a deep engagement with culture and literature.
Aaiesteena, Shaivee & Ashlesha
Students in Year 9 are also coming to the end of a drama study unit, this time based around Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. This has aligned perfectly with their year group performance that will be happening very soon and has given them an insight into how drama works both as literature and live action. They have also been looking at poetry throughout the year and have taken the opportunity to complete independent research on their favourite poets ranging from Shakespeare to Taylor Swift.
KS4
Year 10 students have been discovering the joys of literature through world poetry and, more recently, Jumpa Lahiri’s The Namesake. They have shown their interest in reading around the topic by producing some fantastic analytical posters on The Overcoat by Nikolai Gogol.
Year 11 are coming up to their exams and have been working very hard to ensure they are as prepared as possible. They have submitted some truly fantastic pieces of narrative, descriptive and discursive writing as part of the coursework portfolio which showcase the talent and drive this group of students possesses.
KS5
Year 12 and 13 are also in the final stretch before their examinations. The depth of their knowledge around the key topic areas is growing and it is always very exciting to look at new material from different perspectives.
Year 12 students in Literature have been creating their own revision resources to aid both themselves and others in the lead-up to the exams.
