During assembly, our Primary children listened to speeches by House Captain candidates and then, in class, elected our Year 6 House Captains who are as follows:

Makalu – Anandi and Chhime

Kanchenjunga – Aahana A and Aaradhya

Annapurna – Rebecca and Hannes

Dhaulagiri – Snigdha and Nijal

Well done to everyone who took part for writing engaging, powerful and inspiring speeches, and a special well done to those who were elected as our Year 6 House Captains!

Year 2 finished their IPC unit ‘We are what we eat’ by designing, making and baking their own healthy pizza at Mezze restaurant. The little chefs created the most delicious pizzas! The next day the students gave their parents a tour through the classrooms and the Year 2 area and shared all about how to stay healthy. Together with their parents, they completed an obstacle course, decorated a tree with smileys showing all the things that make them happy, did some calming art and enjoyed self-prepared healthy smoothies. What a wonderful way to end term 1!

F2 and Year 1 celebrated the upcoming festival Dashain from the host country. Children showed their creativity by making kites, decorating them and flying them during the Outdoor Learning Program. Children even enjoyed the Parachute game during their celebration time.

Wow – what a term. It has been great to see students enjoying their learning and working so hard in all their subjects. It has been even more exciting to see the school community back post Covid, with clubs, activities, events and competitions. Of particular note are our sporting wins: we have had 4 fixtures against Lincoln this term and won 3 of the 4 games. Every match was 2-1. This shows how competitive all of the games were and how well the students did under intense pressure and the resilience shown after losing a set. The students have worked incredibly hard in training and showed great team spirit throughout.

On Thursday we had a special event entitled “An Evening With Dr. Ashok Jansari” hosted by students of The British School Psychology department. The event celebrated the study of psychology at TBS, with a presentation by Dr. Jansari about the human brain, and presentations and research by psychology students.

Congratulations to our drama students who filmed their monologues. This forms part of their GCSE work. The department was able to use the new black out studio and light for the first time and the students did wonderfully. The students worked extremely hard leading up to these, including rehearsing at lunch time, and this showed in the quality and the emotional depth of the students’ work.

The Prefect team was very happy to see the wonderful turnout at the fundraiser on Saturday in aid of the floods relief in Pakistan. The preparation and effort which went into the event by parents, prefects, and volunteers proved well worth the weekend fun and financial support it provided to challenging circumstances closely linked to our community. The success of the fair was indicated by the 25,000 rupees raised by the bingo stall and the 10,000 rupees raised by our very own basketball game. Both contributed to the more than 275,000 rupees raised towards Pakistan flood relief. When our community comes together as one we can do great things! The Prefect team is excited for a busy slate of events coming up in Term 2!

The Year 11 GCSE Drama performance exams were this Thursday using the newly upgraded black out studio and lighting rig. The year 11 students performed amazingly and Ms Mountjoy is extremely proud of their hard work. Well done to Nic, Zainab, Amber, Gethin, Arshiya, Suravi and Tanu!
