Happy Nepali New Year to you all! We wish you and your families the very best for 2083.
Welcome back to everyone for the final term of the 25-26 year. It will be a busy term for our students undertaking their external exams. Students are working hard to ensure coursework and exam preparation are on target and we wish them the very best for their GCSEs and A-Levels.
I was incredibly impressed this week with the Primary team’s commitment to Disconnect to Reconnect. I have become increasingly aware that sometimes digital tools designed to improve efficiency in our lives, can negatively impact the quality of our interactions. Human connection which is undistracted and sincere offers a depth that no notification or curated feed can replicate. When we set technology aside we reclaim the richness of shared moments and these essential experiences ground us, reminding us that meaning is found not in constant connectivity, but in genuine presence.

Each student’s propositions varied from one another in different ways they could develop our school and improve our school life. This showcases the range of interests amongst our students and what they prioritise, the diversity ranges from more interschool sports fairs to parent/pupil well being workshops and many more.
The applicants for the role of Head Prefect 2026/2027 were:

The votes are being counted and calculated as of yesterday and we await in anticipation for the new leaders of TBS to greet us. No matter what the results are, we are proud and thankful to all of the 7 students who took the initiative and time to put themselves forward for the Head Prefect position and offered to be our students leaders for the year ahead.
Arka as Mr. India
By Aarambha Sharma 10A
Arka started his goal of undertaking his Mr India Special Abilities journey a few months ago, it was an event he looked forward to. The event was organised by The Indian Chronicles where they share positive and meaningful stories. This gave him a chance to shine on stage and showcase his passion for fashion & entertainment.
His journey started in November 2025 with online interviews and video submissions. Then in January 2026, he participated in the second round where he walked up from the ramp and introduced himself and he did his performance all alone while others were accompanied by their parents.
The final round took place in Kolkata on April 12th where 25 people competed. Arka dressed up as a professional Bengali gentleman. He was very confident about his performance. When he was announced as the winner of the competition he felt an overwhelming sense of joy and happiness. It made him believe in himself even more, including feeling that he can achieve his goals if he stays confident and keeps on trying.
This experience has made him feel stronger, happier and more confident later in his life. He is very proud of what he has achieved and it has been wonderful to see him shine in a competition like this.
Well done Arka we are all proud of you.
Year 7 Geography Trip
On Wednesday, Year 7B travelled to the River Lele to complete some Geography field-work. The class was split into four groups who independently sampled the width, depth, gradient and speed of the river at three sites. The pupils got really stuck in and were immediately in the water taking fantastic measurements. They applied their “working scientifically” knowledge from Science to the Geography field trip to take repeat readings, to ensure their results were accurate. The groups worked very well in their teams and were excellent ambassadors of TBS. After a lovely packed lunch, pupils travelled to Chobhar Gorge where they learnt about the geological processes that formed the rocks around them and the natural history of the region. Pupils then made a field sketch of the site, ready for their upcoming end of year rivers project.

Earth Day 22/4/26
On Wednesday, our Primary students and teachers marked Earth Day by taking part in a special screen-free day, themed “Disconnect to Reconnect.” Throughout the day, classes went offline to reflect on the importance of reducing screen time and reconnecting with nature, with each other and with the world around them. This meaningful initiative was led by our Eco Ambassadors, who encouraged the Primary community to honour Earth Day in a thoughtful and positive way. It was wonderful to see students embracing the opportunity to learn, collaborate and engage without devices, while also thinking more deeply about how our daily choices can support the planet.
EY
In Foundation 1, we introduced Earth Day by exploring a globe and learning about our world. We read the story Thank You, Earth, which helped us think about all the wonderful things our planet gives us. The children shared their ideas about what they love most about the Earth, from flowers and trees to mountains and skies. To celebrate, we created a special Earth Day picture to put on display in our classroom.
Year 1
In Year 1, we created jellyfish using a range of different materials as part of our exploration of SDG 14: Life Below Water. Through reading the story Bloom, we learned how the ocean can become polluted by rubbish and harmful materials, affecting not only jellyfish but the entire marine ecosystem. The story showed us that one small jellyfish may not achieve much on its own, but together, a whole bloom of jellyfish can make a big difference.
We also visited our Forest School site in Chobar, where we connected with nature through observational drawings and by carefully catching and observing bugs. These experiences help us understand that every living thing, no matter how small, plays an important role in caring for our Earth.
Year 2
In Year 2, we enjoyed spending time connecting with nature while developing our art skills. Following our Forest School session at school in the morning, we completed two art activities inspired by the world we live in and the natural environment around us. Through this, we explored the importance of caring for our environment, linking to Sustainable Development Goal 15: Life on Land, as we observed plants, habitats and the impact humans can have on the natural world.
In the afternoon, we continued our outdoor learning by getting creative (and a little messy!) as we prepared different elements for our exciting calendar art project. This linked to Sustainable Development Goal 14: Life Below Water, as we explored how we can care for oceans and marine life through our choices and actions.
Year 3
During our Maths lesson, we were learning about money, so the Year 3 students set up a shop. They took turns becoming shopkeepers and customers, working out prices, which change was needed and using and applying their knowledge and understanding in a real life context.
The students were engaged in adding and subtracting with decimals as we were using British currency, Pounds Sterling. Converting between pounds and pence using their understanding of times tables. They also gave an impressive list of the different currencies around the world, from countries they have travelled to and their home countries including Nepali Rupees, Indian Rupees and Banagaladeshi Rupees as well as Yen, Won, Kyat, Thai Baht, Singaporean Dollars, Hong Kong Dollars, Australian Dollars and US Dollars!
The students all felt they had learned something and been able to practise their mathematical skills, as well as being able to purchase some healthy fruity snacks!
Year 4
In Year 4, we celebrated Earth Day by going on a sensory walk outside. We talked about what we could see, hear, touch and smell. The children wrote beautiful sentences such as, “I can see a pink, majestic rose,” “I can hear the birds chirping,” and “I can smell the pollen drifting through the air.”
Afterwards, we found a quiet spot outdoors to enjoy reading with our friends. In Maths, we played multiplication and division board games before working collaboratively to create some of our own.
Year 5
Year 5 had an enjoyable day focused on teamwork, creativity and problem-solving. In English, the children created persuasive speeches or short skits from the perspective of the Earth, addressing important environmental issues such as climate change, air pollution and deforestation.
In Maths, students worked collaboratively to solve an Earth Day mystery, applying a range of key mathematical concepts they have learned throughout the year. During IPC, the class explored the forest school area where they carefully observed and sketched elements of nature. Finally, in ICT, students took their learning offline by designing vector-style drawings using only pen and paper, developing their understanding of digital design concepts away from screens.
Year 6
As part of our Earth Day screen-free day, Year 6 enjoyed a hands-on day of learning, creativity and teamwork. In Maths, the children explored the area of triangles through practical outdoor activities, measuring, investigating and solving problems together. They also loved playing the wonderful SDG games they had created for their home learning, proudly sharing their creativity and their understanding of sustainability in such an engaging way.
Little Yetis
We were delighted to welcome our Little Yetis back for a very special Earth Day session this week. It was wonderful to see all the children return to our setting, ready to explore, play and learn together again.
The children thoroughly enjoyed a range of Earth-themed sensory activities, designed to spark curiosity about the world around them. From hands-on exploration to creative play, the session was filled with excitement, alongside all of the familiar elements of our usual provision that the children know and love.
It was truly lovely to have everyone back, and we are looking forward to an exciting term ahead filled with engaging experiences, new discoveries, and plenty of fun for our Little Yetis.
Atendi the Yeti
Congratulations to year 5H for achieving an impressive 99% attendance. Atendi the Yeti will be staying with them for next week as this was the highest overall attendance for the week.
