Dear Students, Parents and Carers,
As we draw towards the end of the year it is an excellent time to look back on all we have achieved. I particularly wanted to share with you some of the successful strategies that we have put in place as part of our post-covid recovery.
- There has been additional funding given to subjects to ensure that the right learning activities could take place within that specialism to bridge the gaps that had been identified
- We have plans for an increase in staffing next year as we move forward to enable more focussed student support, particularly with subject specialists
- Students have been given specific support with study skills and organisation, across all age groups
- In class support has been given to rebuild handwriting and presentation skills which dipped during online learning
- Increased focus has been given to aid social integration, friendship building and moving from virtual relationships with peers to face to face communication
- We have been building opportunities to learn practical skills across all subjects, particularly areas which did not have this opportunity in the same what while the students were online
- Where we have not been able to take learners off site as much, we have brought opportunities to them e.g. special guests in school such as several writers, a photographer, UN SDG specialists, illustrators and careers talks
As we prepare for the summer break, we are planning our campus redevelopment. This will include some exciting projects which students will benefit from in the new academic year;
- New washrooms
- Changing rooms for PE
- Additional classrooms
- Focussed Creative and Performing Arts area
- New fencing in the Early Years and Year 1 free flow areas
- An additional Science lab
- Refurbishment of the reception area
