NISSA Girls Basketball Win
By Zoya, Vassavai and Aryaman
The girls NISSA basketball team played exceptionally well against Ullens school. They played a tough game last Thursday, however the Yetis did not give up which lead to a well deserved win.
TBS started the game extremely strongly, leading by a significant margin. But Ullens put up a mighty fight. By the third quarter Ullens had climbed their way back turning the score into a 20 – 20 tie. This pushed the game into a tense overtime, which was exhausting for our already fatigued players. However in the end Ghazal, our captain, and Oriane made two crucial baskets that lead the team to a triumphed win with the final score being 20 – 24.
We luckily got to interview some of the players after the game to get their thoughts on it.
One of the two outstanding debutantes Anushree in Year 9 said she, “felt honored to be given the opportunity to represent the school”. She admitted that she, “did feel a bit nervous at the start of the game but slowly found her rhythm throughout the match”.
Yaja, a Year 10 student who truly had an impact described the game as a “Close call” giving Ullens credit for their effort. Her highlight from the afternoon was sharing milkshakes with her teammates which she felt was “rewarding after a tough match.”
Tara, also one of the debutantes, performed outstandingly in helping TBS beat Ullens. Her thoughts on the game were “I felt good about the game overall, even though things got tense in the third quarter we came back and worked together to win.”
Great job to the team and coaches Mr Dwyer & Mr. Mala for their victory! We can’t wait to see what other amazing highlights are waiting throughout the season. There will be a game every other week, so please come and show your support to our team. As Aarushi said, “the team needs your support” so come cheer them on! Go Yetis!

NISSA Boys Victory : By Aarambha, Jeongyoon, Norbu
After the much awaited game last week, the TBS Yeti’s NISSA squad emerged victorious against Ullens’ football team. After an exhilarating first half, the score was 1:1. In the second half, Yonden scored the decisive goal to make the score 2:1, slotting the ball cleverly past the Ullens goalkeeper. The team held on to their lead for the remainder of the half, securing a well-earned TBS victory. Many players, such as Mayukh and Powell, had their NISSA debut, and got to experience their first ever game of semi-professional football. The game overall was an impressive performance, with experienced players such as Myles and Idhant showing exceptional teamwork with relatively new players.
Aarayveer winds up his best shot.

Duke of Edinburgh Silver Practice Expedition
By Bibhushan, Sayuri, Basma, Ivanjali
Over half of Year 11 students have signed up for the silver DoE programme, which will also count as their Year 11 PSV (physical, skills, volunteering) certification for the TBS Class of 2029 Graduation Diploma

Anticipation is increasing across the school following a highly successful Silver Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) parent briefing session. According to Ms. Lee, the session was a huge success, with the route explanation clearly outlining the rationale behind selecting a local trail and great engagement and questions from parents. One of the parents commented that “the trip was really well planned and he knows the route well – it is a wonderful choice for our students”

Students have been extensively preparing for the DofE expedition trip, with the continuation of the DofE club from last year and briefing sessions, especially with the main one happening this Friday, where meal plans, group allocations, and the full journey will be sorted out.

Ms. Lee showed her enthusiasm for the trip, sharing, “I’m very excited for the trip, it has a lot of variety of ecosystems to walk through, challenging navigationally, and got a bit of inclination and elevation gain.” She added that “the raw interest from students has been fantastic and I’m sure that they will enjoy each of the 3 days!”

According to Ms. Lee, the dynamic three-day itinerary will be taking students though many beautiful locations across the region, “ The trip starts in Bhaktapur, goes South to Lakuri Bhanjyang, then after that head through the Godawari forest to Godawar. From Godawari, we go over the ridge to Lele. Then through the gorge to Tika Bhairab and then over to Pharping.”

Ms. Lee noted that the enthusiasm shown by participating students has been tremendous, ensuring an enjoyable experience while going through the trails. Ms. Lee has shared a number of highlights of the trip, “The views from the Pharping suspension bridge, the peacefulness of Lele, and how varied the first day will be.”
