Thank you to those parents who have confirmed that your child/children will be leaving TBS at the end of the term, i.e. Wednesday, 2nd October 2024. Adequate notice is a requirement and avoids financial penalties for parents. It also allows us to refund your security deposits on time and helps us to plan for the new term.

The deadline for providing the formal notice of the withdrawal of your child/children is Sunday, 15th of September 2024. The notice of withdrawal can be provided either by email or written letter to Ms. Manisha Bajracharya at the admission office.

After submitting the notice of withdrawal, parents will receive a clearance form nearer the end of Term 1, in order to complete the withdrawal procedure. Please let Ms. Bajracharya in the admissions office know should you require any school documents/references to provide to the new school.

Late notice of withdrawal (or providing no notice) and failure to submit the form or return the school’s resources may fully or partially affect refunding the security deposit.

We are back with the Little Yeti Learn through Play session. These will happen weekly on Fridays from next week. If you would like to bring your younger children, please let us know or know someone who would be interested, please help us spread the work. 

This week has been exciting for some of our Year 6 students as they prepared and delivered their House Captain election speeches to the Primary school. We had an impressive turnout of 28 candidates, each presenting their vision for how they would contribute to and enhance the TBS community.

Following this afternoon’s assembly, Primary students were given the opportunity to cast their votes for their preferred candidates. The successful House Captains will be informed early next week and formally introduced during the assembly.

Year 7 focus

It has been great to welcome our new Year 7 to the secondary section of TBS. We trust they are settling in well to their new schedule with six different lessons, six different teachers and six different classrooms every day. We look forward to welcoming parents to the Year 7 ‘Meet the Mentor’ Parent Teacher Conference next week, where there will be the opportunity to meet the Year 7 mentors and discuss how each child is settling into the new school year.

Year 7 historians brought in a range of artefacts from home to make their own mini museum and learnt how to develop the key skills of inference and deduction by analysing their exhibits.

In Science, students are learning about the scientific method. Mr Jones’ class are investigating factors that affect the time it takes water to boil and can now explain clearly ideas about fair testing as well as independent, dependent and control variables. In Mr Lee’s class, students are learning similar skills but are applying it to their investigation into the time taken for a parachute to drop.

Teacher focus

The secondary leadership teams have enjoyed their new teacher learning walks this week, where we drop into all the new teachers to see how they are getting on with their new classes. A particular highlight was Year 10 photography where the new Year 10 IGCSE students were learning about photo composition, use of the dark room to develop film prints and how to use a SLR camera. Next Thursday, Ms Williams and Ms Yates are leading a whole school Parent Information Session about teachers’ continuing professional learning and development, where teachers will share some of the projects they were working on last year as part of their own professional learning.

Drama update

The cast has started rehearsing for our senior play which is scheduled to be performed on Thursday 14th November. Year 11 will be taking their first IGCSE exam of the year, with their monologue performances on Monday. With a planned FOBISIA drama trip in December, it is a busy couple of terms from the drama team.
