Dear students and parents,
There are lots of events planned as we approach the final week of term 1. Our wellbeing, especially during the present time, is something we need to be especially cognisant of, so that we can continue to function effectively, to be fulfilled and to be useful and helpful to others. As part of Wellbeing Week, there will be a variety of activities taking place, including an opportunity to participate in the Great Himalayan Trail Challenge (see below) and opportunities to take part in community 5 minute mindfulness sessions. We would like as many people as possible from our wonderful community to join on zoom – students, siblings, parents, grandparents, all staff – all welcome! The first session will be at 10.30am on Monday (Monday’s session will be recorded) and then at 1.30pm Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday on this link: 5 Mindful Minutes (Meeting ID: 990 4595 1746. Passcode: 545981). There will also be a parents information session on how you can help with your children’s wellbeing next Thursday: please do attend using this link. Finally, Eunkyoul, in Year 7, provides some great advice for fellow students when facing stressful situations: please read this in the Key Stage 3 section below.
Please do access the library to return and replace books ready for the Dashain break, using the link and procedure below. We will be able to open up more parts of the campus (astro, tennis court etc) when similar venues are permitted to do so.
I am so impressed with the creative work that our students continue to produce, including the wonderful Matisse inspired masterpieces in Year 3, the creative writing in Year 6, and the compositions and masks in Key Stage 3. Our older students have been reflecting on their academic progress with teachers and parents with meetings for Year 11 and 13 yesterday and further meetings scheduled with Year 10 and 12 next Wednesday.
It is certainly as busy as ever and I am sure everybody is ready for rest – one week to go!
Have a lovely weekend and stay safe.

Student of the week goes to Eunkyoul in Year 7. Eunkyoul has had his challenges this year whilst we have been in online learning, but in the last two weeks has really started to excel in his work. He has shown real resilience and determination to get himself back on track and doing really well. One area he really excelled in was when he had to create a model plant cell in science. He went the extra mile and made it from plasticine, adding detailed labels to each component of the plant cell. Also, in drama he created a piece using the medium of mime about camping that was fantastic. Amazing work Eunkyoul, keep up the great work!
Particular highlights this week have been Year 10 students working on their music compositions. A link is included to Lhakyi’s composition of ‘Visit Nepal’. Let’s hope her composition sets the tone for visitors returning to Nepal!
In Drama, Year 11 students have been working in the style of “The Paper Birds” Theatre company exploring how to approach and devise theatre using verbatim and physicality. Meanwhile, Year 10 students have begun exploring monologues. They have looked at past practical examples and a variety of script extracts, and are now embarking upon the task of choosing which one they would like to perform for their coursework.

This week’s student of the week is Manawi Shah in Year 11. Manawi’s teachers have been impressed by not only her work ethic, but also the work she has been producing. Keep up the good work, Manawi.
