Overview

Our mission is to provide meaningful service learning experiences for our students through collaboration with sustainable community partners to make a positive impact on the local and global community as a result of a mature awareness of local and global issues and personal responsibility.

We collaborate with our community partners in the following areas and ways: 

  • Working with children’s education projects
  • Rebuild  3 schools in Dhading and one more school is in process of rebuilding.
  • Delivered smaller scale building projects to support schools such as a basketball court and school wall in Shree Tika, toilet in Shramik school, pure drinking water installation through SPLASH in Shree Tika, Shramik, Kanti Burns and Suryodaya School.
  • Provided community partner weekend training days where we have delivered training on development planning, crisis management/disaster planning, safeguarding children and first aid alongside the more usual learning and teaching techniques.
  • Being involved in ongoing projects involving TBS students working with community partners on projects ranging from school lunches, to classroom decoration to teacher training.
  • Offering consultancy sessions where TBS staff go into schools to see how they might implement developments.
  • Acted as a point of liaison for other schools from around the world who also wish to visit Nepal and engage with similar projects.
  • Invited community partner children to TBS events on a regular basis.
  • Fundraising for school lunches or essential school resources & materials.
  • Invited schools, teachers, trainee teachers into school to observe lessons and liaise with us.
  • Provide local school with menstrual health training and provide them reusable dignity pads which have been made by girls rescued from trafficking, helping them to be financially dependent.
  • Collaborate with Rato Bangala and ECEC to provide the teacher training program.

Our Community Partners

The British school has been working with Mary Ward School since 2009.We are actively helping them through the ASMAN girls’ scholarship programme. The British School staff are currently providing funding for more than 80 girls’. In the past we have bought them a projector and library books. Every Wednesday the girls from Mary Ward visit The British School for the community club with foundation 2 students and have a PE lesson. Every year we invite the teachers to The British School for our community conference, teacher training and community sports day. We also have provided them with CPD Session with our year 3 and 4 teachers.

Hope Rising Children Home (HRCH) Kaleswor, Lalitpur is a non-profit, non-government and non-political social organisation that supports needy, orphaned, abandoned and disadvantaged children from all around Nepal. The British School has been working with the organisation since August 2017. So far The British School has supported them by providing specific items such as stationery, food, plates and a rice cooker. We will be helping them throughout this year by providing food and stationery.

Shramik is a government school of 230 students located in Lalitpur. The British School has been working with the school since 2016. We raised funds to pay for the fruit for their early years classes. We have been providing funds since April 2017 and in 2017 we completed the toilet reconstruction. Students from Shramik come to The British School for different activities in each term and for community sports day each year. Staff at Shramik School are invited to The British School community conference every year. In the future we will be helping them with sanitary pads and organising more student related programmes to develop their skills and knowledge.

The British School has been working with Shree Tika Vidhyaashram school since 2013. With the help of Splash we were able to provide them with clean drinking water. We have also donated library books and sports equipment and have done Library sessions as well as ICT and English lessons. In the future we hope to provide a library teacher for them and help to set up the library so the students can benefit directly.

The British School has been working with Guheshwori School since 2017. Every week on Wednesday students from Guheshwori School visit The British School for music lessons. Every year we invite them for community conference, teacher training and community sports day.

It is a non-profit making, non-political and non-governmental organisation in Nepal. The objective is to give these children who required special attention in the growing years with the required care, medication in the form of corrective surgery and support in the form of education and accommodation. Since 2016 we have been providing the funds to pay for their vegetables. Our students from year 5 and year 6 organise four events each year in The British School  with the children from Disabled New Life Center. Every year we have invited them for the community conference, teacher training and community sports day.

Mary Ward High School, Lubhu, was established in 1997. The British School has been working with the school since 2016. Currently we are raising funds to support them with music and dance teachers. We have also provided them with a fan, teacher training and christmas gifts. We are actively helping them through ASMAN girls’ scholarship programme. We invite the school to our community conference and community sports day every year.

Disabled Services Association(DSA) is a residential home for children with various disabilities. Many of the children who live at DSA attend the government school that is opposite of the residential home. The British School has been working with the organization since 2008. Every year we invite them to The British School for winter concerts and community sports day. The student to student work that has done with the students from Disabled Services Association has been very productive for our students. In the future we hope to provide them with ICT training, music instruments and sanitary pads so the students can benefit directly.

The British School has been working with the organization since 2009. We regularly raise funds for the organisation to provide necessary items such as food, fruit, soft toys and small sports materials. We have also installed RO water purifier through Splash. In 2017 we donated 22 blankets. Each year we invite them for our community conference to talk about the burn victims and how we can minimize it. We will be helping them in every possible way. throughout the year.

Located in Dhading district 87km away from Kathmandu, Shree Rudrakanya Basic School is a primary school with 35-40 students. The British School has been  working with the school since 2010. Our 6th form students used to visit them for bridging week and expedition week. After the earthquake in 2015 the building of the school completely collapsed so The British School raised funds to construct the school and with the completion of these buildings the students now can enjoy their lessons in a safe and secure environment free from the concerns about unsafe earthquake damaged buildings. Since 2017, we have been raising funds for students afternoon snacks. Every year the teachers from the school are invited for The British School community conference.

Located in Dhading district 87km away from Kathmandu, Khanigau Primary School is a primary school with 80-85 students. The British School has been  working with the school since 2010. Our 6th form students used to visit them for bridging week and expedition week. After the earthquake in 2015 the building of the school completely collapsed so The British School raised funds to construct the school and with the completion of these buildings the students now can enjoy their lessons in a safe and secure environment free from the concerns about unsafe earthquake damaged buildings. Every year we invite the teachers from the school for community conference.

Located in Dhading district 87km away from Kathmandu, Gayatri Devi Basic School is a primary school with around 100-110 students. The British School has been working with the school since 2010. Our 6th form students used to go to Dhading for bridging week and expedition week. After the earthquake in 2015 the building of the school completely collapsed and The British School raised a fund to construct the school and with the completion of these buildings the students now can enjoy their lessons in a safe and secure environment free from the concerns about unsafe earthquake damaged buildings. We have also donated various school items. We invite the teachers from the school for the community conference every year.

Located in Dhading district 87km away from Kathmandu, Ahaldada Basic School is a primary school with  35-40 students. The British School has been working with the school since 2016. Our 6th form students used to visit them for bridging and expedition week. After the earthquake in 2015 the building of the school completely collapsed. The British School  is in the process of making a new building in the current premises of Ahaldada school. Once we complete the construction the students will be able to study in a safe environment, free from the concerns about unsafe earthquake damaged buildings. Located  84.6km from The British School in Chautara, Sindhupalchok district, Shree Primary School is a primary school with 65 students from extremely poverty-stricken families. The British School has been working with this school since 2017. Currently, our 6th form students visit twice a year for bridging week and expedition and they are doing various fundraising programs for them. We invite the school to our community conference every year. We have already provided them with school uniforms, stationery items and a beautiful swing. We will be supporting the students in various ways in the coming year.

Bageshwori Lower Secondary School is located 90km from The British School in Chautara, Sindhupalchok district. Currently there are 188 students from extremely poverty-stricken families. The British School has been working with this school since 2017. Currently our 6th form students visit them twice a year for bridging and expedition week. They take part and plan various fundraising programs to fund resources, education programmes and essential items such as running water. Staff at Bageshwori are invited to Kathmandu for The British School community conference every year where teachers get to voice their needs whilst also learning new, up to date teaching and learning strategies. When 6th form students visit they donate tables, chairs and various stationary materials to support them learning in the classroom. We will continue working with the school and be supporting the necessary items throughout the current academic year.

Located  84.6km from The British School in Chautara, Sindhupalchok district, Shree Bandevi School is a secondary school with 455 students and some of the students are visually impaired. The British School has been working with this school since 2017. Currently,our 6th form students visit twice a year for bridging week and expedition and they are doing various fundraising programs for them. We invite the school to our community conference every year. We have already provided them with stationery items and sports items. We have also given them a projector and we sourced some braille books (and braille picture books using a new printing method). We will be supporting the students in various ways in the coming year.

Balkalyan School is located 85km from The British School in Chautara, Sindhupalchok district with 28 students from extremely poverty-stricken families. The British School has been working with this school since 2017. Currently our 6th for students visit twice a year for bridging and expedition week. They take part and plan various fundraising  programs to fund resources for education programmes. Staff at Balkalyan School are invited to Kathmandu for The British School community conference every year where teachers get to voice their needs whilst also learning new, up to date teaching and learning strategies. When students 6th form students visit they donate various stationary materials to support them learning in the classroom. We will continue working with the school and be supporting the necessary items throughout the current academic  year.

Siddhi Kamala Secondary School is located  85km from The British School in Chautara, Sindhupalchok district. Currently there are 240 students from extremely poverty-stricken families. The British School has been working with this school since 2017. Currently our 6th for students visit twice a year for bridging and expedition week. They take part and plan various fundraising programs to fund resources, education programmes and essential items such as running water. Staff at Siddhi Kamala Secondary School are invited to Kathmandu for The British School community conference every year where teachers get to voice their needs whilst also learning new, up to date teaching and learning strategies.When 6th form students visit they donate various stationary and sports materials and painted the Early year classroom to  support them learning in the classroom. We will continue working with the school and be supporting the necessary items throughout the current academic year.

Located 5.1km away from The British School Kathmandu, Suryodaya Bal Bikash is a government school. The British School has been working with them since 2012. We invite children to The British School for various events and activities. We have helped with remedial building work and Installation of drinking water filtration system, Sanitation improvement and rain water repair facilities.
