What an exciting week we have had in the Primary and Early Years section!

Years 3, 4 and 5 have been off on their expeditions.

4W were the first to leave on Monday morning for two nights and 3 days at Shivapuri Heights, they returned to TBS on Wednesday with many stories of exciting adventures to share with their families and friends. They had participated in a hike up to the peace pagoda, litter picking, momo making and more.

On Tuesday morning, our Year 5s set off for Himalika for 4 days and 3 nights camping by the riverside. They also participated in hikes, building stone sculptures, campfire activities, to mention just a few.

On Wednesday, 4M set off for two nights and 3 days at Shivapuri Heights, they also made momos, hiked and helped improve the environment with the litter pick amongst other activities.

Finally on Thursday, Year 3 set off for Sankhu where they set up their tents, hiked to the village, painted nature art and enjoyed campfire activities.

They are all very excited to welcome their parents for an assembly on Friday 24th November to see in more detail what they got up to whilst they were away.

Early Years also had a very exciting day on Friday, when they opened their very own Thakali Kitchen restaurant to welcome their parents, carers and families. They became waiting staff for the afternoon and raised funds for their community partner school.

This week in secondary we have been promoting Movember. Thank you to head prefects Himanshu and Shrida for leading the assembly this week on the topic of mens’ health – focusing on raising awareness of mens’ mental health and of cancers of the male reproductive system. Please forgive any dubious facial hair growth on the male staff (and sixth form students) you might see around campus this month!

On Tuesday the World Languages Team hosted a Parent Information Session and we were delighted to be joined by a number of Year 6 parents in preparation for next academic year.

On Thursday it was the Year 10 Parent Teacher conference, and the academic team were delighted that every year 10 students had at least one parent at the PTC. It is not often that we get 100% representations at a PTC, so thank you to Year 10 parents for your support!

Tomorrow we welcome back up World Scholars’ after their exciting competition at Yale University in the USA. We look forward to hearing about all their adventures and achievements in a special assembly later this term. Thank you to all parents who have supported this trip and especially to Ms Wong and her team who have led this trip.

May I wish you a restful Tihar break before we come back for a busy four weeks leading up to the end of term. We wish every success to our Year 13 economics students who have their multiple choice exam on Tuesday – one of the biggest days of the Tihar festival. Fortunately it is only a one hour exam and they will be free to celebrate with their families from lunch time.

After Tihar, the first week’s highlights will be the Year 9 PTC on Tuesday, Year 10 Boudha English curriculum trip on Thursday,  the whole school Food Festival on Friday and Sports day on Saturday morning. We look forward to welcoming many parents to these events.

Thank you to those parents who have confirmed that their child/children will be leaving TBS at the end of the term, i.e.Friday 15th December 2023.. Adequate notice is a requirement and avoids financial penalties for parents.  It also allows us to refund your security deposits on time and helps us to plan ahead for the new term.

The deadline for providing the formal notice of the withdrawal of your child/children is Wednesday 15th November 2023. The notice of withdrawal can be provided either by email or written letter to Ms. Manisha Bajracharya at the admission office.

After submitting the notice of withdrawal, parents will receive a clearance form to complete the withdrawal procedure nearer the end of Term 2. Please let Ms. Bajracharya in the admissions office know should you require any school documents/references to provide to the new school.

Late notice of withdrawal (or providing no notice) and failure to submit the form or return the school’s resources may fully or partially affect refunding the security deposit.
