What a fantastic afternoon Early Years & Primary had on Thursday! 

The Primary students from Years 1 to 6 performed with our community partner students from Shramik School. 

The concert commenced with Khayana, Arya introducing the performances from Years 1 & 2 and the Shramik students. They performed a range of English & Nepali songs and dances together, including the very well known popular song, Resham Firiri, followed by a dance by Shramik school. Balark & April compared for the Year 3 & 4 students who then performed songs and dances linked to peace and unity, including our soloists in Be the Change, Karunesh, Aayan, Manya and Praksham. After that, Aaryaman and Sofea introduced Snigda and Meekha who wrote and performed a poem ‘Hamro Nepal’ before the final performances by the Year 5 & 6 students.

We had a surprise reprise from all the students who stood in unity to sing ‘Give Peace a chance’ . What a fitting ending to the show! 

They were wonderful to watch and celebrated the cultural links between the British School and its host country extremely well. 

We are happy to share that we raised 70500 Nrs for the Shramik School Early Years students’ snacks.

Year 12 Economists tackle various global macroeconomic objectives:

Year 12 Economics students have been engaged in a fascinating journey this week, delving into the complexities of different economies worldwide. Their research has focused on how governments address and achieve various macroeconomic objectives. From analysing policies to understanding economic indicators, students have gained invaluable insights into the dynamic world of economics this week, as they begin their Year 13 course content.

Macroeconomics encompasses a range of goals that governments strive to achieve to promote stability and prosperity within their economies. These objectives commonly include economic growth, low inflation, low unemployment, equitable income distribution, and a sustainable balance of payments. Year 12 Economics students have been deeply involved in examining how governments across different nations endeavour to meet these goals effectively. One example is when students explored the impact of Argentina’s hyperinflation, which reached over 100% for the first time in three decades. Students suggested ways in which this can be rectified.

Students furthermore presented their findings to each other in a group challenge, not only exploring real world best and worst practices for achieving macroeconomic objectives, but improving their public speaking and presentation skills. Student groups each chose a different macroeconomic objective and focused on a specific country case study; from sustainability goals in Sweden to progressive tax systems in Slovenia, the students developed a global perspective and honed in on their presentation skills. I am proud of them all and congratulate them on their hard work and dedication.

3 classes from Year 7 and Year 10 Mandarin went to a Chinese restaurant for language immersion and cultural experience. All of them ordered their lunch in Mandarin while some of them did not even need to look at their notes to do so! They really showed much confidence in their foreign language learning – keep it up!

The Year 10 class took it even further as they received a secret mission from Ms Wong. They had to find out some facts from the waitress by interviewing her and all of them succeeded!
