It’s been a brilliant start to the year for our seniors, who have quickly settled into their chosen subjects, showcased their leadership skills, and embraced extracurricular activities.
One of the standout highlights of this academic year has been the remarkable enthusiasm shown by our Year 13s in embracing various clubs and activities across the school. In particular, the NISSA league has witnessed the fierce determination of our students, with the boys’ football and girls’ basketball teams making their mark. As they gear up for their second fixture this week, their dedication and teamwork deserve recognition.
Moreover, we’re proud to see Year 13 students taking on leadership roles within several other clubs around the school. At the newspaper club, Key Stage 5 students have been contributing their creative talents to our school’s communication efforts. Their contributions promise to enhance our community’s engagement and awareness.
The prefect team, a group of dedicated students, has also been diligently planning a plethora of exciting activities for the year ahead. Keep an eye out for the upcoming hoodie design competition and the potential addition of new clubs and activities. Their commitment to enriching the school experience for all students is truly commendable. We are really looking forward to the collaboration between our KS5 prefects and KS4 ambassadors. The KS5 Prefects conducted interviews earlier in the term and are taking a leading role within the team, fostering a sense of continuity and mentorship within our school community.
As our Year 13 students look to their future beyond TBS, we have been impressed by the personal statements and common application essays, which reflect the determination of our Year 13s as they set their sights on their desired universities for next year. Year 13 students have had the opportunity to attend two university fairs and it has been lovely to see students proactively gathering information about universities from around the world, opening up a world of possibilities for their higher education journey. We welcomed parents in for our University Parent Information Sessions and it was great to have parents actively engage in the university application process, sharing their ambitions and goals for their children’s futures. We encourage parents to reach out to Ms. Gurung or Ms. Tyndall with any questions or concerns about the university application process, ensuring a seamless transition to the next chapter of their academic lives.
This week marked the first assessment point of the year and the dedication and hard work exhibited by our Year 13s have been truly impressive. With the results of these assessments in hand, students will have the opportunity to reflect and set goals for the next term during mentor time next week.
In conclusion, Year 13 at TBS has had a busy but exceptionally impressive start to the year. As we look forward to Expedition Week, we anticipate seeing our KS5 students thrive in a completely different environment, further expanding their horizons and experiences. We can’t wait to see the incredible accomplishments our Year 13s will achieve this academic year.
