A gentle reminder to parents: please share the deposit slip once you have paid the fees to ensure that the finance department is made aware of the payment, and they can easily identify such payments in the bank statement. If you are still receiving a due statement but have already made the payment for such dues, please write to the finance department immediately at finance@tbs.edu.np, attaching the deposit slips as well.

On the 19th of January, we welcomed 64 student teachers from the Early Childhood Education Centre (ECEC) to attend initial training with TBS. This is a programme run by our TBS Early Years & Key Stage 1 teaching team every year. To support the ECEC training, the student teachers complete a teaching placement in our Early Years and Key Stage 1 setting which feeds into their qualification.

On the 28th February we are going to be welcoming student teachers from the ECEC training centre in Pokhara, who will also participate in workshops run by our team.

We are very lucky to work with some amazing student teachers and the ECEC teaching team to ensure that young learners in Nepal receive the best start to the educational journey.

Thank you to those parents who have confirmed that their child/children will be leaving TBS at the end of the term, i.e.Friday 22nd March 2024. Adequate notice is a requirement and avoids financial penalties for parents.  It also allows us to refund your security deposits on time and helps us to plan ahead for the new term.

The deadline for providing the formal notice of the withdrawal of your child/children is Wednesday 28th February 2024. The notice of withdrawal can be provided either by email or written letter to Ms. Manisha Bajracharya at the admission office.

After submitting the notice of withdrawal, parents will receive a clearance form to complete the withdrawal procedure nearer the end of Term 3. Please let Ms. Bajracharya in the admissions office know should you require any school documents/references to provide to the new school.

Late notice of withdrawal (or providing no notice) and failure to submit the form or return the school’s resources may fully or partially affect refunding the security deposit.

A highlight of this week has been the “Beautiful Anhui into Nepal” Chinese cultural event which was attended by our Primary House Captains and our Secondary Leading Linguists. Hosted by the Embassy of the PRC in Nepal, this was a fantastic opportunity for TBS students to experience a diverse cultural programme of traditional and modern performances, from dance, music, opera, acrobatics and even magic! Every performance was incredible in its own way and the performers were a mixture of first class adult performers and outstanding youth performers – all of whom are world leading performers in their art. Students had the opportunity to listen to commentary in Mandarin and enjoy a wonderful afternoon’s entertainment. The British School would like to thank the Chinese Ambassador to Nepal for inviting our students to this event.

The children thoroughly enjoyed the performances saying – ‘The acrobatics where the man threw the woman in the air and caught her unharmed was unbelievable’(Sofia Y6).

One of the highlights for Aradhya (Y6) was ‘the face changing opera where the man kept changing the mask, surprising the audience every time’. 

“From stunning acrobatics to hilarious magic, the Lunar new year celebration had it all. Hosted by award winning acrobats, magicians, singers and more, the experience was both culturally enriching, and gorgeously stunning.” – Mateo (Y9)

“The two performances that I personally enjoyed the most were the opera mask changing show and the Huangmei Opera as those shows not only grabbed my attention, but also captured the elements of the Lunar New Year of joy and unity as well as a time to share stories and get together with your friends and families.” – Ashish (Y9)

The NISSA sports teams have started their season with warm-up tournaments last weekend. The boys basketball pre-season tournament was at St Xaviers and the girls football was hosted by Lincoln. The highlight for the boys was beating Lincoln College in their opening game, whilst the girls saved the best until last, putting in a dominant performance against eventual tournament winners, club side Shangri-La. TBS girls gave them their toughest match of the day and to use a football cliché, the final 4-2 scoreline rather flattered Shangri La. Kaingira Njikho was nominated at the TBS MVP of the tournament from a near faultless display in defence, but there were several other members of the team who could easily have been awarded MVP. The team visibly improved during the day and it was great to finish on such a positive performance.

The Girls football team enjoyed a wonderful 4-0 victory over Ullens on Thursday. Playing attractive passing football, giving the opposition very little opportunity to threaten our goal and impressive finishing upfront gave TBS girls a great winning start to the NISSA league season. Next match is on Monday against KISC.

Our academic parent information season continues, with humanities presenting this week and next Thursday, it is the turn of our science team – and the opportunity to try out some of the class experiments your children might encounter in class.
