It has been another action packed, productive week here in Primary. We waved goodbye to our FOBISIA U11 squad who are currently representing TBS in Thailand, and are excelled themselves across the different sporting events. We are very excited to welcome them back to class next week and hear all about their achievements.

On campus, we have been continuing with our fascinating work on our IPC unit, the Sustainable Development Goals. Children across the key stages have been investigating specific goals linked to literacy units previously studied and they are preparing to share their learning and development of understanding next week during the parent showcases. It is a wonderful way to share the learning and we look forward to welcoming parents and carers on site next week to showcase the amazing projects and learning journeys across the year groups.

Our House Captains have been busy at work organising a Bring and Buy Sale for our community partners which will take place on Tuesday 7th May on the driveway from 2pm to 3pm. They have been organising advertising, informing students of the event and gathering nearly new items to sell. All proceeds will go to our community partner schools, so please donate any nearly new items you may have, and join us for the sale as well!

We are very proud of the Year 3 students for their family assembly last week. The children shared their learning about various topics from across the year to show others about the wonderful topics covered in 3B and 3W. Some children read their own exciting versions of texts that they have studied this year, showing remarkable writing skills and everyone showcased their technical drawings of flowers that were inspired by the artist Margaret Mee. The assembly ended with a powerful message about working together to change the world and to achieve the SDGs which is the current IPC topic that children across Primary are working on. The children hope that everyone felt inspired by their song ‘Together We Can Change the World’. Well done Year 3!

Secondary school choir

More than 10% of the secondary section of the school are now enrolled in the secondary choir. Under the directorship of music teacher Ms Freeman they have been preparing a number of pieces to contribute to the Kathmandu Chorale concert at Lincoln this evening (prior ticketing only) or at TBS at 5.30pm Saturday (tickets on the door). Do come tomorrow and see the TBS choir resplendent in the news stylish PAWS polo shirts and hear them raise the roof.

Additional Learning Needs (ALN) Parent Information Session (PIS)

Ms Smithers and the ALN team are running a PIS next Friday on neurodiversity and ALN in the TBS secondary section. Please come to the library on Friday 10th May at 8.15 am to find out more.

Key Stage 5 Yeti treats

Year 12 and Year 13 students enjoyed a surprise at break time today. The pastoral team treated students to a complimentary drink or snack from the Yeti café in recognition of full attendance in this first full week of exams. We look forward to awarding more treats next Friday!

Staff Professional Learning

We have an ongoing programme of regular training for staff. Thank you also to Ms Williams who is running a series of pre-school Professional Learning sessions to complement our regular sessions. The additional training showcases keynote speeches from the World Education Summit. A good number of secondary teachers, including the whole ALN team, were tempted by the promise of a stimulating lecture and some morning coffee. This week’s speaker was Carol Tomlinson on the topic “Differentiation – is it a waste of time?” Given that Carol is credited with first coining the term differentiation, we assumed the answer was no but enjoyed listening to her unpick the topic and reflect on how teachers can allow students to be real champions of their own learning.

Every Friday, you will receive Yeti News. Inside, you will find lunch menus from two providers: Yellow Bamboo and Khaja Ghar. To order lunch for your child, please follow the steps below:

1. Complete the Google form and ensure you enter your child’s name and year group correctly.
2. When making an online payment, please include your child’s name and year group in the payment remarks.
3. After payment, take a screenshot of the receipt and send it to the appropriate lunch provider’s contact number provided in the Google form.

TBS OWLS Students and Parents Family Picnic is just around the corner! Please join us for a wonderful outdoor gathering and bring a dish to share. We promise you that it is going to be a fun day with bouncy castle, jenga, bingo, and many more. Save the date and hope to see many of you there!

Over the past fortnight, the Z-Club engaged in two informative sessions with our Year 6 students, discussing menstruation, breaking taboos, and fostering a supportive environment during this natural process. The students showcased their creativity through artwork reflecting on “Periods,” and actively participated in engaging games and quizzes. We extend our gratitude to all involved!

Thank you to those parents who have confirmed that their child/children will be leaving TBS at the end of the term, i.e. Friday 28th of June 2024. Adequate notice is a requirement and avoids financial penalties for parents.  It also allows us to refund your security deposits on time and helps us to plan ahead for the new term.

The deadline for providing the formal notice of the withdrawal of your child/children is Friday, 31st of May 2024. The notice of withdrawal can be provided either by email or written letter to Ms. Manisha Bajracharya at the Admissions Office.

After submitting the notice of withdrawal, parents will receive a clearance form to complete the withdrawal procedure nearer the end of Term 4. Please let Ms. Bajracharya in the admissions office know should you require any school documents/references to provide to the new school.

Late notice of withdrawal (or providing no notice) and failure to submit the form or return the school’s resources may fully or partially affect refunding the security deposit.
