Dear Parents/Carers, Staff and Students,
We are very proud to welcome back our FOBISIA U11 champions today. The students have been competing in the FOBISIA Friendly Games in Thailand. Congratulations to all of the students, parents and staff that have supported them over the weeks of preparation. The students have had a fabulous week participating in all the usual sports that you would expect (athletics, football, basketball, swimming, teeball) but also some social events for students and the chance for them to be a part of the wider family of FOBISIA member schools. I have been asked why FOBISIA calls it The Friendly Games. This is because it is designed to be just that, after some past sporting events had been not so friendly and competitive elements took a less than pleasant turn, FOBISIA felt the “friendly” aspect was an important part of the values of the organisation and helps to keep the focus on students’ holistic development. While we all enjoy celebrating wins with the students, the FOBISIA Friendly Games is so much more than that. As Michael Jordan said, “Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence wins championships.” And teamwork and sporting intelligence are what the FOBISIA Friendly Games are all about. Well done to all involved!
Some of our fabulous students will be taking part in the Kathmandu Chorale concert which will take place at TBS at 5:30pm on Saturday. The Chorale will be performing numbers from the musicals and I am sure our students would be delighted to see you there supporting them and enjoying the music.
As mentioned in my previous letter to parents who had indicated an interest, we will be beginning a four week trial of Nepali lessons for native speakers each Sunday from June 2nd to June 23rd. Students will be allocated to their groups and times based on an assessment that will take place on Sunday May 12th. Please complete the Google form by the end of this week to indicate that your child will be able to attend.
Wishing you all a lovely weekend.
Caro
