NISSA League Finals
Last Saturday saw our senior sports teams involved in their finals tournament. In the boys’ competition, TBS narrowly lost in a highly competitive match against KISC. Having led throughout the match, KISC won with a three-pointer in the final few seconds of the game to win by a single point. In the girls’ football, having won the league with a 100% record, TBS had a bye to the semi finals where KISC were again our opposition. This time the results were reversed from the boys’ matchand the girls won by a single goal. In the final, TBS played a well drilled Rato Bangla side. Both the TBS and RBS sides played well and thanks to the effectiveness of both goalkeepers the match ended scoreless sending the game to penalties. In the best of four format, TBS confidently scored their first three shots, whilst TBS goalkeep Edie made two great saves to ensure that TBS confirmed their league victory with a finals day win. Congratulations to the TBS girls’ football team for a perfect season!

Kathmandu Zoo Trip
As part of the ASDAN challenge the ALN students visited the zoo yesterday. The main objective was to enhance their understanding of animals, focusing on their diets and habitats. Here’s what our students thought about the trip: “I liked walking around the zoo with my friends, seeing lots of animals and writing about them. I would like to visit the zoo again” (Saishree Y8), “I enjoyed looking at the Royal Bengal tigers. I saw four of them. They looked scary.” (Arka Y9) “ I have been to the zoo before but this was a special one. I enjoyed boating and taking pictures of animals the most.” (Neeharika Y10)
Year 9 Options Evening
Thank you to all the parents and students who attended Year 9 options evening and PTC on Tuesday. We had a 100% attendance from parents at this event – the first PTC of the year to report this. Year 10 PTC is next Thursday – no pressure Year 10 parents but I would love to report another full turn out in next week’s Yeti news! The options information slides for the evening can be found using the following link. 2024 IGCSE Options Evening .pdf
World Book Day
On Thursday we celebrated World Book Day with the highlight being the start of the day’s catwalk showcasing all those students and teachers who have dressed up for the day. There were some wonderfully creative entries including a humpty dumpty complete with wall and a Willy Wonker with chocolate! There was a staff Harry Potter ensemble complete with Hagrid, Harry, Lord Voldemort and other characters from the series, but the biggest cheer of the morning was earned by Gru and his minions (Ms Hall and her year 8 mentees!). Other events included the treasure hunt tracking down the teachers’ favourite books and the lunchtime book sale complete with Himalayan Java hot chocolate. Thank you to Mr Jameson and the English & Literacy faculty for organising this event.
English & Literacy Parent Information Session:
The English & Literacy faculty are hosting a Parent Information Session next Friday 15th March at 08:15am in the library. Please come and find out more about learning in the English faculty. This session will be led by Mr Jameson.
International Womens’ Day
Friday marked International womens’ day. The Zonta club followed up their recent high profile activities with an open mic event at lunch time. TBS alumna Ayesha Lissanevitch organised an International Women’s wellness event at La Terrace and we were delighted to send a small group of students to this event.
And finally good luck to our badminton teams who compete in an away fixture at Lincoln on Saturday.
