What an exciting week we have had here in the Primary School this week. We have seen the start of our series of our ‘One World Gala Talent Show’ series’.

Yesterday we had a sensational start with our Year 1 and Year 2 participants, ranging from dancing to magic and singing and keyboard and ukelele playing. They set the standard extremely high and thoroughly impressed the audience and the judges!

Our Year 1 & 2 participants were  Jeevika, Ziyana, Rajveer, Khayanna, Lucie, Chi Chi, Ira, Aadya and Pramsu.

We were very pleased to be joined by our panel of celebrity judges, Ms Drumm, Mr Shrestha, Ms Graddon & Ms Smithers, as well as our parents and carers of the children participating.

This afternoon, we welcomed our Year 3 participants to the stage, they were Kasvi,Nils,Praksham,Aniket,Sanna,Shanaya,Dzedron,Alvaro,Aayan,Charlie,and Stanley.

Again, the standard was extremely high, our new panel of celebrity judges, Ms Graddon, Ms Maya Kunwar, Mr Orr & Ms Wynn. They were blown away by the talents of our students who performed a diverse range of acts, from singing to magic, to break dancing to keyboard playing to drumming and gymnastics.

We were lucky enough to have a surprise performance on each occasion, firstly the Year 1 and 2 students then the Year 3 and 4 students performing a sample of the songs they will perform at the Community Concert. We are very excited to hold further ‘One World Gala Talent Shows’ over the last three weeks of this academic year.

Congratulations again to our participants and break a leg (not literally!) to those preparing to perform.

This week, we showcase the harmonious achievements of our students, from captivating performances at the recent school concert to outstanding results in prestigious music examinations. Join us as we delve into the resounding world of Primary and Secondary music and recognise the dedication and passion that resonates throughout our school community.

Year 8 & 9 have been working on Musical Futures Band Projects:

Triral, Jigtenla and Abhi working on their mashup of Yellow Submarine and 500 miles by Justin Timberlake.

Amata, Amaara, Siying and Manashi working on their mashup. 

Year 7 are working on Music of East Africa with a focus on Djembe drumming and pentatonic Balafon improvisation. 

We are excited to invite  you to the first Community Concert, on Thursday 15th June at 1:30pm to 2:30pm in the TBS hall. All students from Year 1 to 6 will be performing songs and dances in Nepali and in English together with students of our community partner, The Shramik School, to deliver an unforgettable Peace & Unity Concert! 

Our community ambassadors will be collecting donations on the door and all money raised will go towards daily snacks for the Shramik School Early Years students.

We look forward to sharing this extraordinary afternoon with our TBS community and creating memories that will resonate within TBS and the wider community. Let us come together and revel in the spirit of unity, creativity, and togetherness with our community partner school.

British families living abroad often face difficulties in gaining home fee status when their children apply to university in the UK. UKSO is an independent university advisory organisation which specialises in fee status support and helping families maintain their eligibility for home fees. On Wednesday 14th June they are holding a free live webinar which may be of interest to some parents. Please be advised that while the introductory webinar is free, they do charge a fee for their services. TBS is not recommending the service, and we have not worked with them before. Anyone interested in using the service should make sure they carry out the relevant checks. We hope it is useful.

We are thrilled to highlight the remarkable efforts of the TBS Z Club in organising the ‘Flowing Forward Festival’ in school this week. The event was launched to promote menstrual health awareness and to help raise awareness to taboos around menstruation in Nepal. From the craving competition to menstrual cycle bracelet making and a sanitary product treasure hunt, the event aimed to destigmatize periods and foster inclusivity for all genders. 

The event, spearheaded by Year 10 Z Club members Dia, Raghavi, and Sivani, marked the inaugural celebration of its kind at TBS. 

The Z Club extends heartfelt gratitude to all the staff and students who  supported the event, as it aimed to promote the normalisation of menstruation. Moving forward, we eagerly anticipate the opportunity to further our efforts in this important cause.
