Spring Concert
The CPA faculty raised the bar with their uplifting Spring Concert. The Key Stage 3 choir “topped and tailed” their programme. Resplendent in their brand new TBS Concert shirts they sang hits from The Beatles (Here Comes the Sun), The Monkees’ (I’m a Believer) and showcased a wonderful repertoire of individual and ensemble performances including Ed Sheeran’s “Perfect”. They ended with their interpretation of Toto’s “Africa”, complete with introductory African rain and thunder storm with 140 students producing thunder claps in (near) perfect unison. It was wonderful to listen to a fully inclusive choir singing with such energy, joy and hitting their notes throughout. Well done Key Stage 3 and their PAWS teachers.
In between we enjoyed a wide range of individual and group performances covering artists running from Bob Dylan to Taylor Swift. Emotive, beautiful, haunting, powerful, joyful, uplifting, harmonious were just some of the adjectives I used to praise the performance on the evening. Well done to Ms Freeman, Mr Neupane and all the CPA and music team for putting together such a memorable evening and thank you to the OWLS for providing our refreshments.
Neurodiversity Week
It has been a wonderful week of activities. We have tested ourselves by trying to find images in mystery photos (Mr Draper failed to find the giant horse but many students did!). There were some splendid odd sock combinations worn by a number of sartorially brave students today. Mr Islam’s Year 10 psychology class presented today’s assembly on understanding neurodiversity. Year 9 students helped host a fun series of activities from visiting children from the Down Syndrome centre and on Friday we welcomed the children back to school to present an assembly to all of the secondary section which allowed us to appreciate the special gifts that people with Down Syndrome typically have.
Whether your family is celebrating Holi, Easter or observing Ramadan and getting ready for Eid or just looking forward to a well earned break, may I take this opportunity to wish all TBS families a very refreshing and joyful holiday.
