Early Years Family Fun Day

On Monday, the Early Years department hosted a family day event at the British Embassy. Our Foundation 1 & 2 children, their families, teachers and student volunteers from the Secondary School came together in the sunshine for a fun filled day. The children started the day by playing some parachute games and showing their parents the songs that we sing in our circle time sessions. They then had the opportunity to participate in some new and exciting activities such as bubble making, a coconut shy, catching fish with magnetic rods, bracelet making and face painting.  After the children completed their challenges they were rewarded with a special prize. Parents were also involved in the fun too, they had lots of fun undertaking sack and balloon races! The Early Years team would like to thank everyone involved in making the day a great success and are already looking forward to holding the event again next year!

Swimming lessons

Early Years, Year 1 and Year 2 students started their swimming lessons this week. They clearly enjoyed getting confident in the water by doing fun games and practising their swimming skills.

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a profound impact on the world, and the field of geography has not been immune to its effects. The department’s focus this year has been on getting children actively involved with their local environment. Fieldwork can be highly beneficial for secondary school children in their understanding of geography. It provides an opportunity for students to make their own observations and make decisions, which helps them become independent and reflective learners.

Our Year 7 pupils visited Shivapuri national park to study a local river and used equipment to measure characteristics from pebble size to water velocity. In Year 9 pupils visited a local NGO, ROKPA, in Bouddha to evaluate the impacts of development within the local community. This involved interviewing locals and tourists around the stupa, whilst touring the ROKPA facilities before returning to school to design their own NGO project. We were also delighted to reintroduce the coursework component back into the IGCSE syllabus. Our Year 10 geographers took part in an overnight residential to the Trishuli river, to collect and analyse data which will lead to the creation of a report that will account for over 25% of their IGCSE grade. 

Next year, we will aim to expand the opportunities for our pupils to undertake field trips and apply their geographical understanding to a local context.

We are excited to invite all Primary Parents to the first Community Concert, Thursday 15th June at 1:45 in the TBS hall. Students from Year 1 to 6 will be performing with students of our community partner, the Shramik School to deliver an unforgettable Peace & Unity Concert! Donations will be collected at the door. All money raised will go towards daily snacks for the Shramik School Early Years students.

Thank you to those parents who have confirmed that their child/children will be leaving TBS at the end of the term, i.e. 30th June 2023. Adequate notice is a requirement and avoids financial penalties for parents.  It also allows us to refund your security deposits on time and helps us to plan ahead for the new term.

The date to inform of the withdrawal of your child/children has been extended to Friday, 9th June 2023. The notice of withdrawal can be provided either by email or written letter to Ms. Manisha Bajracharya at the admission office.

After submitting the notice of withdrawal, parents will receive a clearance form to complete the withdrawal procedure nearer the end of Term 4. Please let Ms. Bajracharya in the admissions office know should you require any school documents/references to provide to the new school.

Late notice of withdrawal (or providing no notice) and failure to submit the form or return the school’s resources may fully or partially affect refunding the security deposit.
