This week Year 3 and 4 took to the stage and shone like stars in their final performance of Peter Pan. There was action, there was drama and there were of course laughs. There are too many fabulous parts to mention them all but there wasn’t a dry eye in the house as Sofea took on her solo in Tell me a Story. Hissi’s voice blew the roof off in our final song It’s a Good Life, she didn’t even need a mic! Not to mention our beautiful mermaids in their glamorous chorus as well as Ben getting the audience to admit they really did believe in fairies! All of the children across all four classes have been working hard to put this together for the past 7 weeks, making our fantastic backdrop, props, costumes (Ava and Amayah’s Tinkerbell wings had real fairy lights) and learning lines – some the night before standing in for children who were unwell (well done Farooq and Araya!) – and songs off by heart with Ms Gilbert. And finally, those dance moves! Wow. Ms Gurung has worked so hard with all the children to teach them those moves – did you see those wild warriors led by Sanna around the fire? And Mannan showing his best moves on the right of the stage. What a night! It’s safe to say the Y3 and 4 teams are unbelievably proud of the work they have put in and how much so many children’s confidence has grown over the past term and they definitely deserve a well-earned rest this weekend! Well done and congratulations to you all!

This year we felt that a day was not enough to celebrate and explore books, instead we decided that we would have a week filled with fun reading related activities!

Here are a few highlights of our week:

·      A book swap in the library where every child was able to choose a new book to take home.

·      Bedtime Stories event attended by over 80 pupils.

·      A trip to EKTA Bookshop for our EYFS students.

·      Special readers from the Secondary School visiting every class.

·      Dress up as your favourite literary character day.

Congratulations to everyone that participated and thank you for all your support in making these events so successful.

On Thursday we had the first recital of the year in the form of a Spring Showcase. A recital is a series of performances by soloists of performance quality pieces. We had students from Year 3 to Year 13 performing at an exceptionally high standard both from external music lessons and our own internal TBS Music Academy. Special thanks go to Ms Gilbert who accompanied several performances from Sahara Shrestha’s Violin piece by Pamela Wedgewood to Lhakyi Mututsang-Rai’s performance of Bohemian Rhapsody. All credit goes to Mr Krishna and Mr Bhaskar, the event hosts, and to Mr Bhushan, Mr Sabin and Ms Simma, our TBS Music Academy teachers who support and teach the soloists on a weekly basis and are the reason for their success!

During cross-curricular day on February 4, 2023, students in Years 6-10 interviewed members of the TBS community about important events in their lives. They compiled these interviews into living history narratives that tell the story of some of the fascinating people who live and work around the school. We will be publishing one of the resulting stories each week. The first of these can be found below and click here for the interview. 

TBS MFL and Leading Linguists are hosting Mother Language Day on Tuesday 7th March after school from 3.30pm! There will be an hour long celebration, including games, quizzes and more! Leading Linguists have been working hard on their own stalls to promote their mother tongues and celebrate the rich cultural diversity we have in TBS. Hope to see you there!

In addition, we are inviting all pet owners to show your talents in your mother tongue! Submit a video of your pet attempting the commands in your mother tongue (or any language you want to share) and get featured in our event. It’s okay if your pet does not respond 😉 Have some fun with your pet!
