On Monday, staff from Primary and Secondary met for their final PLC to share their learning over the past academic year as well as key findings from their focus sessions and recommendations to further develop their practice. The TeachMeet allowed staff to share feedback and strategies on their groups target questions which included ‘How can we make best use of technology in the classroom?’, How can we ensure diversity, equity and inclusion in our curriculum?  and  “How can we ensure our curriculum and our site are environmentally friendly?’ 

What better way to celebrate all the languages and cultures we have been learning about, than with a feast!

Key Stage 2 have not only been perfecting their language skills of ordering food and naming foods, but also over the last few weeks have been cooking and trying the food for themselves.

Year 6 opened their own Chinese Restaurant and served Ms Wong and her students a three course meal of fried rice, cucumber salad and mango dessert.

Year 5 had a go at making Käse Späzle – a German delicacy. 

Year 3 worked exceptionally hard to make a selection of tapas to have a fiesta and Year 4 perfected their cafe skills and enjoyed ordering crêpes from the “Cafe de Langues”.

Overall it’s been a truly lecker, délicieux, delicioso and hao chī few weeks!

This week we celebrate the new discoveries being made and investigative skills demonstrated by our pupils in their Science lessons.

• Our year 12 Biologists are back in school and excited to be starting their A2 content. This week they have been looking at the very complicated formulae involved in ecological statistics.
  
• Having completed their Science curriculum for the year, Y9 have been completing cross curricular STEAM activities in their lessons. One group in 9B managed to make a marble run which took over 30 seconds to complete!
  
  Geology is the final topic in our Y8 curriculum and students have been completing a range of practical investigations to see the difference in sedimentary, igneous and metamorphic rocks. Here are 8A demonstrating how the distinctive layers in sandstone develop, as well as modelling fossil formation.
  
  Year 10 Triple Scientists were calculating how the molar volume of a gas at the Kathmandu altitude and temperature compares to that of a standard laboratory.
  
  Our Year 11 work experience students have brought their Year 4 classes over to the secondary labs to experience some practical investigations. They spent half of their lesson discovering the structure plant cells looked like, before creating their own indicator out of red cabbage. Well done Devanshi and Eva for your efforts in planning these activities and having a go at teaching!
  
  

We are the Eco Ambassadors! Our goal is to make this school a better, more eco-friendly place to study in.  This year, in Eco Ambassadors  club, we have been doing many things to make our school more eco-friendly. For example, we carried out an environmental review, presented in assemblies, and hosted a presentation to the principal, Ms. Drumm, and we are currently planning to create an eco-committee. This is all part of our aim to renew our green flag status as an eco school which lapsed over Covid. Next year in Eco Ambassadors, we are planning to recruit more members, hopefully one from each year group. In order to gain green flag status we must have an eco committee that also includes parents, so it would be great if any parents would like to join us next year. More on this at the start of next year!

Thank you to those parents who have confirmed that your child/children will be leaving TBS at the end of this term (i.e. 30th June 2023). The deadline has now passed. Adequate notice is a compulsory requirement of the school and avoids future potentially negative consequences.  It also allows us to refund your security deposits on time and helps us to plan ahead for the new term.

The last day of providing the formal notice of withdrawal of your child/children was on Friday, 9th June 2023. The notice of withdrawal after this date is considered late notice or no notice of withdrawal. In addition to this, please ensure that you submit the clearance form and return the school’s resources as this impacts on security deposit refunds.
